69 fj40 Building on a buget "I wish"

I hope this thread and your comments will keep me going on my project.
Here is some background I've had my fj40 for about 10 years drove it the first 6 months then parked it. Here is what I’ve done so far or started.
-front disk conversion got most of the parts need a Spindle rebuild Kit.
-the center channel was rusted out so replaced with 2x2 square tubing.
-replaced the drivers side floor.
-started the rear sill with some 2x2 square tubing.
once I get the body some what strait I'm going to start the frame.
like to move the rear axle back 3-4 inches and a SOA lift. rear disc brakes.

this pic is from 2005 at my parents house just put on the bling rims & tires.

I also use solid wire(0.6) and CO2 mix shielding gas with a 160A Mig welder! Not very heavy duty, but nice for sheet metal or stuff less than 3mm!

Here’s some more with the rear quarter and drivers side welded in its not perfect but for what I’m doing with the cruiser this will work. This ain't no trailer queen!

And on a side note my company just put GPS on all the trucks so I have to get a beater for haling the 4wheeler and general junk around I'm getting this F150 from a buddy that was hurt over in the nonwar war.

That’s what I should have done. Now that I started replacing I feel I should finish

It would have been easer to get another cruiser in better shape.
Live and learn.

Hade a fallout Tuesday I guess the 6” of snow was too much for my cheap carport. The real problem was the rain that fell after the snow and I was at work so I could not even throw a tarp over the cruiser to stop the tub from filling with water. Got a tarp over the POS carport now so work can resume.

Tacked the gas tank well together hope the tank fits in it.

Got this done today made the tank well about 1/8th inch to shallow.
Measure once, cut twice. Or was it Measure twice, cut once I can't keep it strait. I remember measure once; cut once then beat it in with a hammer!

thinking out loud

I’m debating whether to flip my rear springs now or wait I feel that I would be jumping around to much but I can’t finish my rear1/4s without flipping them. I should be out working on it instead of sitting on the computer.

OOOHHH Bother.

More pics coming!

I don’t know I’m just wing’in it.

Well I went ahead and started tearing the rear axle out to flip the springs so I can get the measurements for the rear quarters to be moved back before I finish them. Took some picks of my passengers side lower sill cut it off totally but I think I need to cut it higher to meet the door opening. It will be easer to weld upand blend in that way I think.

I don’t know I’m just wing’in it.

Thanks Missipboy there ain't nothing fancy about a cheap carport at the end if a shed. But I guess the beauty is it the eye of the beholder.

Work on the cruiser is slowing down do to summers “honey do list” tried to open the pool today 1st the pump was seized up, got a new pump 2nd then the hose from the pump to the filter was wrong got a make shift one 3rd the hose from the pump keeps blowing off pumping out the water I just put in.

I hate pools all this work and I’ll only get in it 2 or3 times.

axle fliped

Got my springs flipped so I can now cut my rear fenders and move them back I measured from the axle to the front then tuck that measurement to the back and added 1 inch but I think I might need more for the axle to move back when stuffed. Any one out there have some suggestions.

Can you see a problem with these springs I might need a new pair.
