Ya you would need to figure out which direction you are coming into Jarbidge from. There is only two ways in there and only one road open all year. I only know the way in from Idaho. There is a large staging area for trucks and trailers coming into the area on the Idaho side. So if people are trailering their Cruisers for the event that’s no problem on the Idaho side. In fact if you come down from Twin Falls I think it is pavement. I always come down from Bruneau which is 70+ miles of gravel roads.

Cheers

All,
I'll be attending this year's 2024 pig party and willing to help plan the event (after a great time in 2023). I have visited several places in Jarbidge Canyon. I have some familiarity of the area, including the four campgrounds along the river. Its a great place to camp and walk the trail below Pine Creek campground. I also have a place in mind that might work camping that is south of town that would work, and some points of interest to see in the area south of Jarbidge. I like the idea of using a improved site to meet for the first night (as Evan noted above) as people will be coming in after dark after a long day of driving. The next morning we could move down to find somewhere among the 4 campgrounds near the creek. Dave and I will driving up from the south. I'll look into the camping near the reservoir to see what might be available for groups and report back.

Dates that Nick coordinated for PP24 in Jarbidge are July 11-14.

You can base camp in Jarbidge, I think that is what most of the side by side people do when they go there.

All the pay camp grounds in the area I know of are small. I have barely checked them out though and only once camped next to town in a free camping area. Free camping area is large but you have to 4wd across the river to access it.

You can run the Robinson Hole trail in 4-8hrs from Jarbidge and back. I just always camp at Robinson Hole because it is a fantastic spot and there is a nice hot spring too. I usually hit Jarbidge to BS with Jace at the Red Dog bar, he is a Cruiserhead and fun guy to chat with. He also has an extremely good selection of beers.

There are easy dirt road trails to the south of Jarbidge, maybe SW a bit too. I have not explored that side much.

The Robinson Hole trail is going to be sketchy for first time 4wd’ers. We have had stock 90’s Tacoma in there, fairly stock 40, stock 80 and bunch if fairly stock 60’s and Dans fairly stock 75-series Troopy. So pretty stock Cruisers can certainly make it in and out. There is also a lot of brush on the north side of the canyon when you come out. IE pin stripes!

Earlier in this thread Dan I think linked my thread in the Treasure Valley club area. There is lots of pics and videos in there of the Robinson Hole trail from my last four years or so doing trips there.

Here is a couple videos from the trail not in that thread.

I have a bunch more pics/video of the area and trails on Instagram. Here are some links including the Taco taking on some of the tough sections of the Robinson Hole trail.

Some videos here of the trails to the south of Jarbidge, extremely scenic both north and south from the trails. You can see very far into Nevada on a clear day to the south. This was Memorial Day weekend, even holidays I have found the area pretty much dead. You will only encounter the occasional group of side by sides or random Jeep on any of the trails. That’s been my experience any ways with only a couple of times seeing another group camping at Robinson Hole.

The river will be low by mid July and all snow gone on any trails. At most the deepest creek ford will be hub deep by mid July. It will probably be pretty hot mid July too, I always go down spring or fall.

I can help with maps/OnX as far as areas to camp and trails. If you do the Robinson Hole trail out of Jarbidge it is basically a figure 8. So you can cut out of the trail before the Robinson Hole canyon, do it backwards, run just half of it, do half one day and half the next. Lots of options.

Google Robinson Hole, interesting history in the last 30-40yrs! Much longer as well I am sure. Jarbidge is a mining town, always has been. Still an active mining town which also has a long rich history. I have always wanted to see the only North American boa since I was a kid, I finally did a few years ago right on the edge of town. The rarely seen Rubber Boa, it was kind of a big deal to me to finally see one in the wild. I was jumping around like I was 12 and picked it right up off the ground.

It was a tough decision, but I am going to skip this year. I was thinking I could drive my soccer mom wagon and hitch a ride with other pig people. Just the logistics of trying to camp in a car not setup for camping and no longer having a RTT. I could also use the gas and beer money to fund the resurrection. The other thing I have going on, is I started a side business to legitimize my side work I have been doing for a decade. Certain steps I took caused me to bring in a pig ton of work. I have worked every weekend for 2 months and all of May is booked already.

I need someone to take this party to the goal. Get everyone wrangled up in a place at a time. Also, I was going to have Ace Overland do s***s. I still could do that if you would like.
Cool to hear your business is taking off!
