TheFerg is also a northern utah guy . he moved down here a year ago . i will call him later for options

What are water and fuel options like along the relic run route?

Fuel and water available at Delle, Grouse Creek, and in City of Rocks. Availability in Grouse Creek May not be guaranteed as it’s a pretty small place.

How far from Delle to Grouse Creek?

Apologies if this is covered in the Expedition Utah thread - trying to leave work now...

Kurt would have better info, but I would estimate 110-130 miles by our route. I will see if I can’t peg it down tonight.

75-100 miles from Grouse creek to city of Rocks.

I just had a thought - the June dates are not carved in stone/snow (ha ha).

For me the Solstice is always an awesome time of year. But with snow and a cool spring, the snow melt will be late.

What do you folks think about waiting until August? Maybe the week of 12 Aug? I am guessing the Uintas would be a little more dried out by then.

We could buy some time and do this well...

Rather stick to the dates that have been calendared for a while given what appears to be a reasonable, tested and interesting alternative. Already have other summer plans.

As I recall since it’s conception the the PP was intended as a place for like minded pork chops to journey to a rendezvous and high five, swap tails of the journey, break bread, share elixirs and know that there are bothers out there that are willing to travel great distances just for the opportunity to gather with fellow sucking pigs even if it’s for a fleeting moment.

Ideally spending as much time traveling trails together is preferred. As for some of us the journey is the adventure and the rendezvous is the golden egg. As I have personally experienced, takeing 4 days to get there ( due to unforeseen circumstances) and having 1 day to share the trail and 1 night to meet and hang with brethren was still a great experience.

Who’s to say how a pig party is intended to flow. We keep throwing logs on the fire, bacon in the pan and show up on the 18th with as many pigs that want to take a journey. If some circle the wagons for a hoedown and some take flight so be it. But pig party 19 will be born and live again next year.

God that’s corny sh#@

Approx. 160 miles nearly all off-rdepending on camp location and detours.

I was hoping to have to have some off-grid time this week to finish my trip report. For now here are some primer pics from Mr. Bradshaw.

A tour of the pumps will be nearly impossible and perhaps boring for non Utahns (it’s a long story) and you might not do as much camp activity as we do (cooking, BB gun shooting content 70’s vs 80’s, movie night, slide show night, etc). With that in mind you really cover more ground and add some other neat stops. Check out the Spiral Jetty, Lucin Sun Tunnels, stops all along the Transcontinental RR, Bonneville Salt Flats, Wendover Historic Airfield, etc. I so wish I had the week to spend with you and show you around, this area is one of my favorites.

Thanks Kurt! The Sun Tunnels look wicked cool, and a Historic Airfield sounds awesome as well. I remember pictures of your Death Star at the Spiral Jetty.

It looks like mid-way through day 2 folks could curve E over the top of the Great Salt Lake and pick up the Transcontinental RR? That might be good for me, as I will head back E after the Party...

Ha ha, corny or not, that about covers it!

It sounds like most want to stick to the June dates and base our travels on last ear's Relic Run - seems like we have a plan.

@mbradshaw has some great details, and @fj55-100 is gathering info as well, @J Mack is getting maps. Sounds like all is well...

Ok, so I am 100% confirmed to meet with you guys Tuesday, do dinner and a tour. Sadly the trip I had interfering with Tuesday will now have me in Moab early Wednesday so I can’t camp with you that evening but may try and hook back up Thursday or Friday. I can spend some time with you over maps on Tuesday.

What’s for dinner? :D

Well that pic Kurt shows with the routes for the RR looks ok. At least you are starting to head back towards SLC towards the end. I would have to adjust my equipment a bit for that type but if that's what we are doing then lets do it.
