Ford blue is what I used. I believe it was VHT. In retrospect I should have used the darker for the 13BT block, but I just didn’t want it to error on the more purple side.

Looks good to me.

I cleaned al the parts last weekend before paint. I used some gasoline and a metal bristle brush to loosen up all the gunk. Then, soap, water, and a dish brush to get the big chunks off and clear most of the grease to where there is only a light coating. Lastly, I used lacquer thinner and some shop towels to dab at the grease and wipe it off and let it evaporate.

Just read the thread, thanks @ceylonfj40nut for mentioning it - looking forward to meeting you folks tomorrow! You'll see the HJ in Mustard 532 next to a blue block (oxidized sky blue 854?) if it helps.

Oh great!!! My son @Cowboy45 would really appreciate it!!! Looking forward to meeting wit you!

I used some CLR to clean the oil cooler and make sure all the calcium build up was gone before putting it back on. I used a mixture of half water and CLR to dilute it and it worked great. The main focus was to get the fins and it worked. Before and After!

All the parts that got cleaned before paint also got a wire wheel treatment to get the tough dirt spots off followed by more lacquer thinner. Here are the valve cover, timing cover, intake manifold, and oil cooler.

I used a softer bristle brush on all the gasket surfaces of the parts as well to get any hard gasket pieces and to clean it up nicely.

Then I got everything taped up and ready. I put carb cleaner one last time to make sure there was absolutely no grease before paint and I hit it. I turned out great and the nice blue I wanted (Thanks @FJBen!) The silver also turned out amazing and clean! Before...

The next things to do are paint the injection pump/lines and the lifter covers and that shod be it for the external pieces of the 2H!

Looking great! Doing an awesome job.

Are those injector lines plated? Mine were zinc coated so I just cleaned them up using 0000 steel wool and some turtle wax polish and they look pretty good.

Also, do you have an OEM intake gasket? Mine engine Australia one from the kit is already leaking and I have to pull it and replace it with an OEM one. $6.58 and a lot of labor lol. Not real happy about that but everything else seems good so far.

I used permatex aviation create a gasket on all my paper seals, a thin film and so far they are holding up.

The injector lines don’t seem to be zinc plated. They have a little grime, but other then that it seems to be good. I started using a brillo pad on them and they shined up pretty nicely!

Yup, we got an OEM gasket for the intake manifold. It should go on soon once we start putting the engine back together! Thanks for the warning we might have to watch out when we do the turbo kit and get the new exhaust manifolds and gaskets.

I will look into permatex. I have never heard of it before. I can’t wait to see your 45 tonight! I want a good reference for what it will look like so this is an awesome opportunity!

@FJBen, did you put rtv on all gaskets or just exhaust.
