To me it doesn't look like Pollux Orange.

@Mr Cimarron, can you pls share some more pics of your bj40?

My other son Liam found this reportedly orange Pollux on line.

@Victor pontes awesome South African rig in dune beige. What Old Landy might look like in dune beige.

Could be the lighting brightening/yellowing the hood and front fenders. The doors, windshield frame, and bed look more like Pollux Orange. BTW, my wife and I have pretty much decided to have our '71 FJ40 painted Pollux Orange - it's my next project. We're towing it back to New Mexico (its real home) from Nevada in a couple of weeks. It's been out there since 2001. Drivetrain will be the original 66,000-mile 2F from my '76 FJ40, a later very low mileage H41 from an '84 HJ47, a drum parking brake split transfer case from an '85 BJ45, and the original 4:11 differentials.

Good to hear you are starting another project! Looks like it will will have a strong 45/47 heritage in it. Very cool.

@4Cruisers the latest it seems @Cowboy45 is leaning toward Pollux Orange. Cab top and campershell cignus white. Some banter between @Cowboy45 and my other son Liam on the subject. We are letting this ruminate. We are off to FL for Tgiving where will meet up with Deo @cruiserjunktion and get some additional goodies for Old Landy.

Retro stripes are also growing on me. Wonder if some accents on the camper shell would work.

Lot to be thankful about. A true treat. Spending Tgiving in FL. Got some parts for Old Landy while here.

@cruiserjunktion (Deo) hooked us up with 40 series disc brake front axle, 4.11 thirds, and Aisin Hubs.

Also got a 5 gallon bucket of Toyota nuts and bolts for various projects.

Deo is awesome. A Class act. Glad he does what does for folks on Mud and more.

Boys also inhaled the essence of a
couple of his sweet 45s.

Hey everyone it has been a while since the thread has been updated recently, so tonight the entire family sat down and decided to brainstorm some color schemes for Old Landy. Our ideas started small, but after many trials, errors, likes, and dislikes we eventually came up with a banging plan. The following will show how we started and the finished product.

Hey everyone please feel free to comment on what y’all think of these paint ideas. And any other ideas would also be really helpful!

Since you asked...

Color scheme seems settled.
I really like the tri color banding tying in with the lower base color like you have it. I also like the wording in the banding.

I'm not real sure about the big medic symbol. I think it would be cool to replace it with your own simple logo and incorporate the things that are important to you, like "Old Landy", the medic symbol, some dates, some country/continent shapes, description of your intended use, i.e. adventure or exploration.

I agree completely! When we were designing the sketches it was difficult to decide were to put the ambulance cross, or whether to have it at all. I like this idea a lot. (We put the cross, because Old Landy was originally an ambulance from Lesotho, so we wanted to keep some history. Also maybe we can put an imprint of Africa or South Africa instead as some heritage.)
