Bump for a new "old" color Fashion Green...

This is t-303 Fashion Green PPG Paint code is 44402

This was an OEM paint for the 67 and 68 model years. There may have been other years as well.

Also known as SAGE Green in some "computers"...

The only other examples I have seen are the spray outs on paper which are not glossy, and sorta hard to descern the true color.

I think that Breath Green looks a lot like Nebula!

Beige colors are Coronado Beige (451) 68-71, Dune Beige (416) 72-75, Beige (464) 76-83.

I would like to do a little touch up on my 70 FJ40. Still has original paint. Using a little polishing compound and can't tell the difference from under the rear 4 wheel emblem. What is the difference between the beiges and where the best place to get a perfect match? I can't tell the difference between my 9/76 which should be a beige (464)

That looks like 416 to me. 464 has more of a yellowish tint. Of course it's faded...

I'm looking for a beige for my '62. Still haven't ruled out Krylon Flat Beige.

Digging back into this thread as I am getting ready to paint the 1978 40 (Sept '77 build).

It is white, which I *think* makes it a T-031 White, correct?

I notice a lot of the pictures at the beginning of this thread are down, and many links no longer work.

I have some questions which are probably in this thread, but I can't cruise all 22 pages right now;
  • Is the roof cap color different than the body color if my body is T031 White?
  • If so, what color white is roof color?
  • Is bezel white different than T031 White?
  • What year did Toyota put color code under the hood?
  • Is best match for pewter the 1973 Toyota Warm Silver Poly?

Thanks!

Pablo - Been looking for the same answers myself, and I haven't heard anything definitive. I have a White 1975 FJ40 which makes it even more confusing since that was the year they transition from T012 to T-031! I'll tell you what I've learned below (responded in your quote):

- Think so, but honestly T-031 and T-033 are virtually identical so you're safe either way.

  • Is the roof cap color different than the body color if my body is T031 White?
- Everything I have read says the roof should be Cygnus White (T012) That said - I don't believe them. I have a Cygnus White truck and the roof is definitely a different color than the body. When I repaint, it will be a brighter white than the body. I think it looks better anyway.
  • If so, what color white is roof color?
- As I said, I have seen suggestions that it should be Cygnus White and others for "Shell Ivory" or something (I think that's on early-mid 60's cruisers though).
  • Is bezel white different than T031 White?
- My FJ40 has a black bezel :meh:. I have read the Bezel should match the roof/should be cygnus white, regardless of body color. Again, when it comes time to paint, my bezel will match my roof, and be a brighter white than the body.
  • What year did Toyota put color code under the hood?
- I believe this started in 1976.
  • Is best match for pewter the 1973 Toyota Warm Silver Poly?
-The best match for Pewter is Pewter :p - it's still sold from a number of cruiser resto sites (I believe Cruiser Corps and CCOT are both carrying it).

Thanks!

Not sure what years the bumperettes came from but thinking the darker ones may be earlier, 63? Waiting for a copy of this paint chart to compare them to. As for being faded both these cruisers are still original paint from the factory including the inside. The 70's tool box area is amazing clean. The 76 still has factory floor mats front and rear. I listed the 76 as a 6/76 which is a mistake, it's a 9/75. So depending when Toyota switched from Dune Beige (416) to just Beige (464) would tell me which color it is. I bought a 73 hard top in Dune Biege to replace the one on my 68 after I rolled it. While it has been repainted the header over the doors is two piece and hopefully is painted DUne Beige not just primered. I'll see if I can pull one apart and compare to the 70 and 76. Haven't checked the 73 top part but all the 70 and 76 look the same. Maybe the 73 will be different. I bought the 73 top in 1976. The kid who owned the 73 saw a sports car in a car lot and had to have it. Traded the LC in on the spot minus the hard top. He then listed the hard top in the newspaper. Curious why he didn't use CL:rolleyes: Curious were the 70/73/76 three different beiges?

In my opinion original paint that hasn't been exposed to the sun's UV is the best way to tell original color. Something painted many years later is not as reliable. Unlike some of the US car makers where those are restored right down to marks added during production Toyota hasn't been as forth coming about their autos. Seems the paint charts we have conflict with each other. If you want origianl color find the door header from the year you want with the correct color and match the inside. In the case of the early corrugated hard tops that's hard to do since those weren't two piece headers.

Looking at the Toyota paint codes for Land Cruisers & trucks, the following seems to be Toyota's numbering convention for paint:
0xx series - whites
1xx series - silvers, grays
2xx series - blacks
3xx series - reds, oranges, maroons
4xx series - browns, beiges, coppers, golds
5xx series - yellows, golds
6xx series - greens
7xx series - turquoises, blues
8xx series - blues
9xx series - purples
:)

Very cool to see these codes organized!
Thanks
