This 40 thing is gonna have me spending more $ on the 80 too. After towing all that weight with OME J springs I know I am in need for some heavier duty springs. I'll prob. go with SLEE 4in. Heavies. Oh the fun never stops.
You are wrong on the $. 78 and older is $$ 79 and up is $$$$$$$

Just get some airlift airbags. Contact their tech support folks, tell them what you need for the additional height of your lift, and they can recommend a bag.

I've just been driving it.
I also reattached a vacuum hose, greased the zerks, cleaned it, removed a s***ty Sunpro tach and some CB bracket.

Thinking about pulling the 1980's Pioneer tape deck and 3-way speakers attached to the rear roll bars.

Does anyone have a Toyota OE radio block off plate?

Also, can any of you 40 gurus tell me what purpose that blue wire tap serves by grounding the green plug to the carb?
EDIT* I found the answer to this question here...
1980 FJ40 Wiring Harness Rebuild
"the idle circuit on your carb. Both of those are pieces ofequipment people tend to permanently ground to bypass a malfunctioning emissions control computer (which is what it looks like the PO did)."

Made some progress on old Red...;

Reinstalled the rear heater, removed the 80's era Pioneer tape deck and 3 way speakers that were crudely attached the roll bars. Removed all non factory wiring & heat shrinked the splice locations, freed up the stuck heater valve, removed the CCOT center console and reinstalled the stock one.

What I would do is put a 4 channel Kenwood bluetooth amp under the dash or in the glove box and a set of PolK Audio Atrium 5 or 6 speakers in the back. I really like that combo. Best is it's hidden for the most part, waterproof and uses your phone for the music part. The extra ground was probably there because they were having issues with grounding. Not a place I'd want to mount a ground because if the engine ground has a problem during starting it's going to turn that wire red and let all the smoke out.

View attachment 1572658 Does any one want this stuff;

- tachometer
- XM receiver
I can bring to today's meet in Charlotte.

I know I’m not local but I’d take those items off your hands if you’re willing to ship them.

The truck is looking good, Sam. It's nice to see it getting the attention it deserves and I know it is in good hands. Keep up the good work.
