Parts came in today so I took it apart. Did not see anything in particular that looked bad or wrong. I put in the new bushing and seals. Now to get it back installed next week and hope it does not leak this time.

There's no evidence now haha. Just thought it was a little weird

Unfortunately, it's going to be fall before I get to it. I've got all the parts for the rebuild, still haven't decided whether to go with a contactor or the OEM solenoid pack. The winch is a back up (I have another 8274 mounted to the front) and going to be mounted on a portable mount, so it can be moved from vehicle to vehicle.

oing with a synthetic line on this one to keep the weight down.

If you can get another, I'd replace it. But if you want to use it, I'd take a small die grinder and smooth it down so there're no sharp edges.

Okay, another question. I need to two screws that hold the motor to the housing. Any clues on what thread size those are?
Also, I have found two Warn parts... 78708 for a Long Motor Screw and 78711 for a Short Motor Screw. Any clues which ones I need? These screws aren't itemized in the 8274 parts breakdown.

May not, but since its already out, I would replace it myself.

Very good point... guess I'm being lazy and impatient. But I need to order some other parts so I may as well.

sorry, forgot the quote

Two 1/4-20 bolts, 7" long including the head with 1" of threads.
Thanks a bunch! I found someone willing to ship me two of them.

Oh, and that splined cam is expensive! I'm opting to smooth the burr and see how it goes.

I'm confused! Rebuilding an 8274 and am trying to reinstall the intermediate gear (big gear on left side of case connected to brake shaft). Several photos on these blogs show large shoulder side of gear going to left (brake) side & several show going right (drum side).
Any thoughts?

Really dumb question:

Should the "disc ratchet" that is sandwiched between friction disc's have some wobble and spin freely?

I just got the brake assembly back together. About to add oil & silicone the upper motor housing on.
Thanks

Used a bunch of fridge magnets to hold the ball bearings. Thanks to @Awl_TEQ and @flintknapper
