So today was supposed to be a joyous occasion, but sort of ended up being a huge pain in the ass…

It was awesome because i finally got a call saying these beauties were in :)..
MOTHAFxxxIN GOODYEAR MTR KEVLARS!!!!!!!!!!

So i go and drop the newly painted rims (I spent all day yesterday priming and sanding and painting, doing things correctly for once) off at sears to have the tires put on so that i can bring them up to alpharetta to install on woody. The guy says "theres a chance that they will get scuffed, oh wait, probably not." i didn't expect them to ruin the paint job on EVERY RIM like they did! They not only scratched all the paint off around the lip, but also managed to gouge the paint on the spokes. I couldn't figure out how they managed that, so I was more than a little pissed off, 2nd time I've had to paint these wheels, 2nd time ruined…
THEN, i looked at the millions of pounds of weights on these things, they are BARELY attached to the lips! That made things especially fun after i put the wheels on Woody and began coming home. While driving, i heard one big "THWAP" then a faint "ding ding ding". I then heard it again two more times… Wheel weights fell off of three of the four wheels in about 15 miles at highway speeds. So I am livd at this point. i really don't get mad easily, but after spending $1500 on tires, i expect things to be done correctly and professionally.
So I decide to make another stop at the Sears on the way home with Woody to get that fixed. Long story short, they didn't because theres was "only 30 minutes until closing". Im going to a different sears center tomorrow, I don't know what i was expecting from the dimwits at cuumberland mall

Anyway, heres some pictures for reading all that putty party bull**** up there

I loaded up the 80, every time i hit the gas i though the back hatch was just gonna bust open, those tires were going WILD back there hahaha.

(You can sort of see the silver lip, its scratched like that on every rim.)

I didn't know 33s were so tiny :princess:

It may just be me but proportionally, 35s just look so at home on a 60 series.

Ill take many more glam shots and damaged shots when it stops raining (hopefully soon). Or maybe ill go wheeling sometime soon, i don't even know when my next trip is. Ive missed the last couple Ga cruiser planned ones, so ill need to get the next one for sure or else they might make me be President of the club or something awful like that.

Sucks about the rims, sweet tires though!

NIIIIIIICEEEE, not the crap you went through, but the tires.
Ron White does a skit about how he went to sears and his wheels came off when driving. Looks liek Sears is just living up to their reputation. The next set of tires i get will also be kevlars. Let us know how they handle.

Thanks Daniel, i wouldn't have been half as angry if it was me scratching the rims while wheeling. but damn, people need to take pride in their work.

So pretty.

i concur lol

Yeah i really shouldn't have expected a good job to be done from sears lol. i was going to purchase my other Diehard from them today and they asked if i needed them to install it for me. i was thinking "Y'all can't even balance my tires, theres no way I'm letting you touch any electronics". That was after i had to explain why i was going to install another battery into the vehicle, and a marine one at that :roll eyes:

And so far I'm really happy with the tires, nothing else lol. they took a TON of lead on each side of the rim and i guess its because its a larger size? Thats probably the thing I'm most worried about, having to go back to sears every week to get them rebalanced haha.

I had one tire take 14.5 ounces. So i ended up rotating it on the rim and it only took about 2 ounces to fully balance.

EDIT: forgot to ask, are you connecting both batteries directly together, or will you have a relay switch?

Whoa! I'll get the other sears to give that's shot.

Edit: I'm gonna have an isolator relay in between batteries instead of hooking them directly to one another. So yeah pretty much a relay switch in the cab.

I've always thought the same about the 60's, 35's just look great on them.

So there aren't any tire shops around? Sears is about the last place I'd think to get tires lol. Most of the tire place I've been to have said that if a wheel is damaged, the mounting and balancing will be free or discounted. I even remember hearing a story about a place that gave a guy free alignments for a year for scuffing his wheels....

Nice tyres mate, I did my own the other day and it was my first time and I never scratched any of the rims, even amateurs is too nice a word for those pricks

Maybe Discount Tire next time? They always price match TireRack for me and there's a bunch of 'em around the country for warranty. Including Alpharetta

Sears automotive was the best deal BY FAR for these. And i've got free balancing for the life of the tire, but I just don't want to have to use it all the time haha.

Thanks Spud! I have a feeling the guy doing it started off "trying" not to scratch them up, but then realized he was late for lunch or something and just said "screw it!" LOL

I run those tires on my truck and my 60. The 37's on the 60 have held up well to the sharp rocks around here and appear to be very tough. They have worn well on the 60 (most likely due to the lack of power lol) The pickup not so much but I don't blame the tire.

They are very quiet for a MT and seem to still grip well during the latter part of their tread life.

Woody looks great as usual and I'm glad to see you didnt go with the white lettering.... White letters would have detracted from the beautiful woodwork. ;)

My 33" MTRs hooked up and survived the Rubicon without failure, 37s havnt left the driveway yet.

Thank you :)
Your 60 was pretty much the thing that got me off the fence between the kevlars and KM2s. It just looks so good haha. And yeah these tires are super quit for how aggressive they are. They stick out passed the fenders about 1.5" and they still seem more quite than the toyos. I just hope they work as well as the toyos in the ga red clay.

I don't really like white lettering that much either. unless its fully white walled on 50's american car.

Cool! theres not much over here as extreme as that, but its good to know they hold up to sharp rocks. I didn't buy a spare GY since i want just a BFG AT for that role. I did get the road hazard for these, and since this truck will never be wheeled , i should be just fine (as long as i carry around bit of sharp road garbage).

And i stopped by sears again today and spoke to the manager. He was embarrassed that his shift did such an amazing job yesterday. He gave me a refund for my lifetime balance and tire rotation, but made sure i knew that anytime it ever needed to be done "it was on him". He also gave me a $50 credit for the battery i wanted. That was pretty cool of him. I guess i won't be complaining about yesterday anymore

daaaam thats beautiful, nce work mate

Thanks Maat. I'm glad you still like it

Good on them.

Yeah i really only wanted the credit towards the battery, but thought it rude to not accept the refund as well :D

I think ill head to one of the tire shops ACC recommended tomorrow and get the tires re balanced with those little stick on weights that go inside of the rim, just so i don't have to worry anymore about the lip weights falling off again. It'll have a cleaner look and they won't get rubbed off by rocks and chit.

Aaahhhhh yeeeaahh dude that thing looks fxxxin awesome!!!
