Truck looks great man.

I always use Discount Tire. Will find best price on whatever tire I want, then have them match it. They will :D

Get some mud on those tires!

Thanks Kline :)
I had planned on using discount tire, but they wouldn't price match a "backordered" tire, but i guess the sears lady missed that tidbit when i showed her the printed page from tire crawler.com :D. It came in at $284 a tire plus all the extra services and i didn't have to pay shipping so i figured id just go ahead and save a couple hundred bucks. (with the money i saved, i managed to buy a tuffy console, hopefully it'll come in this week)

Id love to head out to durhamtown this weekend to try out the tires and give my younger brother his first taste of wheeling the 80, but i still have too much to do getting rid of all my temporary fixes (aka: dozens of zip ties in place of welds lol)

And to hold you guys over til my next wheeling trip…

Still loving the wood paneling man :grinpimp:

thanks. Now i just need to ditch this 80 axe and find some one tons like you haha!

so spring over in the future???

No need. I've accomplished what i wanted to do, which is fit a 35" tire. It won't be as flexy as a sprung over truck, even after the shackles angles are fixed, but i don't mind. Just means i won't be going down the hardcore trails with woody.

No, you can still do the hard core trails. Your locked now, remember. ;)

Thanks Cody Sent from my iPhone using IH8MUD

Atlanta SNOWPOCOLYPSE!!!!! You know you're grown when instead of seeing snow and thinking, "YAAAAAY! I get to go out in that!!!!" you think, "Fxxx, I have to go out in that…"

It took me 6.5 hrs to make a trip that normally takes me 30 mins. and that wasn't even that bad. My younger brother didn't even make it home from school tuesday. He was one of those assholes that parked on the highway all night and slept in the the seat  But he got to see all the funny little fender benders, so totally worth it!

Anyway, i was stuck over at my Grandmothers house to make sure she ws doing alright for most of the excitement. No internet over there, but at least i got to take a few pictures in the snow.

Hardcore right?

Nanas Creek

The snow did give us the opportunity to FINALLY route the locker cables since school was cancelled.

Last time i checked in i think i decided to use a pull style type contraption to engage the lockers, i have since been convinced that thats stupid because I've already paid to powder coat these levers.

Mocking things up (you can tell i mean business by my ruler and pencil)

Its far too close to the dash, so we had 2 options, cut the Tuffy or remove the heater and move the Tuffy back a few inches.

We tore those seats out, pulled the carpet up, puked a few times because of how gross it was under there, and decided to go with option 2. We also sniped some stainless nutserts from ebay to secure the levers with. Those things are cool as hell.

They turned out really nice even though we didn't have the special tool necessary. Make sure you don't drill into the tranny.

Removing the heater also left us this conveniently placed hole in the floor. we just sort of lucked out on that since i completely forgot that the heater needs fluid to heat. Anyway, but those hoses, spilled a ton of coolant on the driveway (I could tell my mom was impressed when she came out and made this face )

My little brother, Aidan, made these little plates to try and close up some of the gap around the cables. They aren't too pretty but they get the job done.

Painted/installed.

Im really happy with how this turned out. They still need a little tweaking because the rear locker fully engages before the lever can go through its full range of motion and lock into the lower cut out.

As you can see i also chose option 1… I needed to notch the inside of the Tuffy about an inch as well so that the cable could bend without too sharp a curve.

I cannot wait to test them out on the trail!

In the next couple days id like to get the "locker position sensor" light wired up and installed into the dash. I wasn't able to find any lights that said "front" or "rear" or anything, so two generic circular lights it is!

Patrick,

Quick question:

Sears is OK with mount and balance on the wheel spacers?

Discount refuses to touch mine with wheel spacers so I need a good shop to work with...

Thanks

I don't know if i've said this yet but I love your rig!
ESP the wood paneling. Nothing says "class" like some walnut ;)

Looking GOOD man!!! Thats a mighty sexy rig you got there.

Thanks guys, i really appreciate it.

When i got my tires mounted/balanced, i just picked up the completed wheels, then put them on myself. Hopefully thats a good solution for you? That sounds like a pretty annoying problem to have after spending all this money on a new set of shoes.
Good luck

Unfortunately, I dont have another vehicle capable of carrying them down to the tire shop... dont really want to go to all that trouble either.

Guess Ill have to venture down to the shady part of town.. sure Ill find a shop that will do it for me

you know what's sad is that yall have more snow than us and we usually have about 2 feet or more of snow by now...

the locker levers are pretty sweet, any plans to put grommets for the cable to keep mud out?
and nutserts are pretty awesome, ive got a bunch for little projects here and there

Yeah our snow just sort of turned to ice and it was full on bumper cars from then on out. But it's all gone now thank god.
And yes I've got a bunch of grommets stashed somewhere in the garage so once I fined them I'll stick some on there that fit then probably RTV the s*** out of it.

Looking awesome, Patrick! Levers came out great

ice (well if we ever get ice or snow...) is why I have 265r15 stock chrome studded tires on right now that look funny on a 4 inch lift...

took a trip to reno the other day and it was bumper cars there without ice which is why I avoid big cities in any sort of weather lol almost got a new bumper from insurance when some idiot in a corolla wasn't paying attention and smoked the brakes and tires before barely escaping from meeting my rear axle...

Thanks RJ! I think you need to skip out on any prior engagements this weekend so we can get to work on yours!¡!¡!¡!

This is looking awesome - nice work! I like the pictures out in the snow. We're supposed to get 12" in Indy today/tonight. I wish I had mine to go out in it...
