Hey guys, my clutch master cylinder is shot and I'm trying to figure out what I should replace it with!!!

Found this one on ebay for $120 from JT Outfitters and it's an exact match to what I have now but I noticed a bunch of other cheaper options as well!

What do you guys say?

That looks like my 74 master. I was pleased with the Altrom rebuild kit I got. Rebuilt it while still in the truck. Quick and easy.

You can probably get a rebuild kit for around 10 bucks...

I would just rebuild it. Just rebuilt mine and it was a cake walk.

Get ahold of Cruiser Dan and buy the parts OEM toyota and a good price at that. :D

Wow! $120!!!!
That's robbery.

An Aisin retails for around $70 if not less here in Edmonton. (the company owned by Toyota to make OEM parts, but cheaper because it does not have a TOYOTA logo on it anymore).

Do this. You can buy the same OEM Aisin cylinders at auto parts stores for less than half the price of the dealership. With the money you save, buy the slave and replace them both at the same time.

That's what I did when mine went. In the past when I've replaced either the slave or master on anything the other one goes out within a few months. Rebuilding is certainly an option also as long as the bores aren't scored at all.

Thanks everyone, I'll be checking all these options this weekend and get this done!

If I could get Aisin cheap in this part of the world I would (just because that was what was OEM) but I now run these:

I think this pair (master and slave) came from Roodogs eBay store (Australia) and my experience so far is that their reliability is as good as AISIN anyway.

Thanks everyone!!!

Decided to go ahead and buy both master and slave together and replace both at the same time!

I did open mine and looked inside thinking of rebuilding and although they don't look horrible I decided to just throw all new in there!:wrench:

Thanks everyone for the options and links.

I got them from rockautoparts by the way.

Hey all, check out what I received today! Got home from work and it was there!

The sad part is I probably won't be able to do the job until next week! The FedEx people had the part loaded and ready on the delivery truck since Friday early morning and only delivered today!

I was hoping to have it done this past weekend! This friday is our 10th anniversary so I'm trying to stay away from the projects and be a good husband!

We'll be going away for the weekend so no work on the 40!

Thanks again for all the advice!
