Stitched up my old steering wheel with Wheelskins cover. It's a very nice product. I had never done any sewing so it wasn't until about half way through the wheel I figured out what I was doing.

It isn't perfect and I might order another one in the future now that I know some things I would do differently:

Don't let the waxed string knot it is ridiculous to untangle

Couple wraps of painters tape on the first two holes you thread would make it easier to pull tight earlier

Keep constant tension on the string. Pull it tight, hold it with your left hand until you get the next hole laced.

For me the best position to have the wheel in was 1-2oclock.

Easy and cheap, I will probably do it again.

Leave Moab, UT for one last hoorah before school starts in May. The route isn't set in stone, but this is what I am thinking so far. I do know I am hitting Glacier at an early time and won't see much but snow, but I lived in Northern Idaho for 20 years so I am used to it. Haha. Anything else in the midwest along the route I should plan on stopping for?

Don't know how much time you will for Colorado but Mesa verde and sand dunes look to be along your route. Also vedauwoo in Wyoming looks along the route.

Have you ever thought of something to do with the old phone controls? I want to make something functional for my now unused cruise control. Also have the phone controls from my LX. I don't have a clue what would work.

I thought about doing something with the old phone controls but like you I couldn't really think of anything to do with them. Stereo volume would be cool but that is beyond me. I will probably just end up pulling them out. I would see if I could get your cruise to work. I know Jonesy or Duiser had said they had cruise control with the cuummins conversions. The last shop that worked on my truck forgot to secure the cruise cable and it sat on the back of the turbo and melted it so I am without cruise until I replace it and it sucks! lol

Good info on Mesa and Sand dunes, I am spending 3 maybe 4 days in Colorado already so I probably won't have much more time there, but Vedauwoo, might be a great stop to get out and stretch the legs! Thanks!

Too bad your route isn't through Michigan. Northern edge of lake Superior in the U.P., over the mighty Mac bridge, then down the west side of Lower Peninsula, pretty awesome!

Mother ******! lol.

So between, me, the insurance adjuster, the body shop guys, none of us noticed that the front of the Slee Shortbus was bent in along with the Slee aluminum fairlead far enough to actually be touching the rope. I do not want to deal with the insurance company again. I wonder if I can find some way to get it bent back out. I would bet we are talking just over 1/2" hmmm.

Have to have something to hook it up to ;)

I have been thinking I could get an eyebolt with a shank as large as possible to fit through the line opening, back it with 2, 2"x.3" washers and then do like you said. Or just do the eyebolt and a short piece of chain to another truck. That part of the bumper isn't made for pulling or impacts so it shouldn't take too much.

There are no trees in Texas? :flipoff2:

HAHAHA, but I would use a chain wrapped around a 2x4 so that it doesn't put any creases in the plate.

Do you think the insurance would not cover it? I would at least make a phone call.

Holy crap!!! I emptied my catch can for the first time since my turbo build and I am amazed!!!!

When I was running the small air/water separator it always seemed to just fill to a certain point and stop working. The new system I have is a large tank with circular baffles stuffed with stainless wool. There is an - AN 10 line from the valve cover directly to the can, which sits on the driver's side firewall.

Well I would bet I collected 12-14oz of water!!! Some oil but a huge amount of water vapor must condense in the engine and be separated out. With a PCV this would all go back into the engine to be burnt which is no big deal, just surprising.

I guess that shows why when i start any car for that matter, i get some steam and wetness dripping from the tailpipe. I'm sure this is much more prevalent to us east coast guys where we have a thing called humidity.

is there a particular reason for taking the detour through Colorado when the more direct route to Yellowstone is also very scenic ?

Talking to the guys at the shop about what I want for my water meth injection system. Going to have to farm out the install because I need TIG welding done. But the truck does not fit in at all! Lol

You know there really isn't any particular reason, I was just told that garden of the gods was pretty nice. But I am open to any suggestions. I will be leaving from Moab, UT, but i do want to fit in the Grand Canyon.

South Rim is kinda cool albeit touristy, a lot. Some great views and plenty of side trails. North Rim though, Toroweap, is where its at!
