Lol, I've been looking for a step like that for a while. The ones I find are all too big.

Haha you guys crack me up! I thought you would all be excited to see the turbo stuff come together, but the Northern Tool Tire Step steals the spot light. haha.

Turbo is that hot Italian chick on George Clooney's arms. I'll never have her. But I'll look. Oh I'll look :flipoff2:

That step is awesome! Good work on finding that, adding it to my tools list.

Oh the turbo is ok too :p

Turbo's make all the girls go craaaaazy, wait you are married.....yeah better stick to the S/C much less power to keep the wife happy. Let the young guys like Ryan have all the fun with extra power of a turbo.

Wait for the results ;) I think the TRD supercharger's days are numbered. haha.

I have to disagree with you here. ONce you add up all your cost to deliver your truck to the shop, pay the hourly rate to have all this fabbed up, source the turbo, replace all the fuel injectors and upgrade the fueling system/computer, ect.... there is no way that the turbo will be close to the cost of the supercharger.

When i talked to two turbo guys (one being very reputable on this very thread ;) ) i was looking at around $7,000 and that was without any fueling mods. A supercharger is around $3600... bolt on. :flipoff2:

Oh, and that is with them sending me parts to install myself and not paying an hourly shop rate.

Delivery to the shop was free AAA ;). I didn't say my exact setup, I know I splurge on things, but lilevo's setup could be done for $3500. And I think EMS will have a kit in the $4k range, but you would have to check with Bak. In this application there really is no need to spend double on a ball bearing turbo you could go with journal bearing and save quite a bit of money. My turbo decision literally came down to two different turbo's and Bak, Marc and I standing there leaning on my hood and flipping a coin. Check out lilevo's thread or call Bak at EMS and they will give you accurate numbers. I think you would be surprised! Not to mention EMS will do a bolt on kit, I am just picky and like to do things my own way.

Not to mention you have to think of all the things you are getting with a turbo over the TRD. With the supercharger you are decreasing you fan size, you are pumping extra hot air into the motor, and those TRD superchargers are no longer supported for rebuilds I believe. The turbos you run your regular fan, use an intercooler and any major turbo company will rebuild theirs if there are ever issues.

The EMS kit was quoted to me at $6,888. And that was mailing it to me and letting me install everything.

I think most of the EMS kits have a lot of bells and whistles that most people aren't looking for. I have talked to Bak about offering a system that would give better performance than the TRD system, but aren't over the top, since most people don't want 100% more power. I am shooting from the hip but I would expect a lower priced kit soon. The EMS powered guys are a speed shop and sometimes forget that these aren't race cars or that not everyone wants huge power. I think they have plans for a BIG power build for their own truck at somepoint though. lol.

What all was in the kit? Did it include a new exhaust? What turbo? What other parts? If we compare apples to apples with the TRD superchager the turbo kit would only include:

- Turbo y-pipe exhaust manifold
- Journal bearing turbo
- Wastegate
- Blowoff valve
- Intake piping to the stock air box
- Hoses

But it is my opinion that any forced induction needs some type of intake air charge cooling which the TRD system doesn't and pinging can be a problem so add:
- A/W intercooler
- Heat exchanger
- Water Pump
- Hoses

No need for computer, injectors, fuel pump, etc if you want to let the stock computer do fueling, like the TRD system.

We've got our turbo kit's broken down into various stages now. Our Stage 1 kit is on sale for $4800 currently. And that includes our complete air to water intercooler system, billet turbocharger, downpipe, etc... A much more complete setup than any supercharger. Have a look and see what you think http://www.emspowered.com/storefront/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=61_119_120_216_217

We will also be introducing an "entry level" kit sometime in the next few months as well.

Glad my comments were not taken as attacks because they surely were not. I was so close to pulling the trigger on EMS's system, but the price was just more then i could bare. From what i remember in the conversation (almost a year ago), i was looking at a turbo manifold y-pipe that utilized my existing 2.5 inch exhaust, turbo, intercooler, holding tank, pump, turbo ducting and connections. If i found my own turbo the price was down to around $4800 and having me install it.

So that's why i went with the supercharger. So far i've really enjoyed the supercharger.

Of course not, I don't think anyone is taking your comments as an attack. I think it is important to get information out there from both sides so that the goals can be established and turbo setups can be tailored to them. If a turbo kit is incredible but costs $20k and makes 1500hp, it really doesn't matter how incredible it is, if the market is only looking for 70hp and $3500. Turbo'ing is a developing trend and I think it is going to take some time to grow, but I can tell you after having a TRD Supercharger I am really excited about having a good turbo setup!
