Low Profile Roof Rack Recommendations?

I agree, also had two aluminum racks made by: www.performancealuminumfabrication.com
They have dual bolt patterns drilled, for the regular gutter mounts and the low profile ones as I didn't know what clearances I was working with. (Removed the rub rails, 8 gutter mounts...)

Noah, I was going to make a smart A$$ comment as to what gives you the right to pronounce the Absolute Best. But Damn those are pretty genius!! :cheers:

The one I got from DiamondRax was sub $1000. Well under, in fact, with the mounts. And it was built to my size and specs. That was a few years ago, now. But I doubt the prices have gone up that much.

I know shane the owner for awhile and have seen first hand his stuff, he is over the top persistent on QUALITY. His stuff is not cheap but honestly one of the best quality out there. Just my honest opinion. I just got his leather in my truck and it is over the top nice quality.

Here's some pics of the Diamondrax low profile rack. They are sturdy as hell. Had 200+ lbs on top. The best part is I still fit in a 7' garage and close the door.

I also had mine done at performance aluminum fabricators in Houston. I had the same flat rack the others had with a front basket bar to incorporate a lightbar. Great quality and it weighs virtually nothing.

The rhino rack looks intriguing. How well do the gutter mounts work, especially in clearing the doors?
I have the Thule 300 load bars and feet at the moment, and the rubber on the door seals catches at the top. Also the "blade" of the mount has dug into the gutters a little too much at some points and broken the paint.
But back to the Rhino system, it prices out pretty well, even with a buttload of options. $1500 for 4 bars, awning, hi-lift mount, shovel mount, and basket. Seems pretty reasonable.

I'd like to see more pics if available.

I don't have any experience with other roof racks besides my Diamondrax 2" low profile on gutter mounts, but damn that thing is like welded to the roof! I can grab it and rock the whole truck wildly from side to side with zero flex or movement of any kind. (And I stopped tightening the mounts when it felt solid but with a few turns left to go on the bolt) Are all racks like this or are their racks and mounts that good?

I have the Rhino Rack and the gutter mounts clear the door seals. I was using thier lights mounts before installing the light bar and have a Fox Wing awning mounted using thier awning brackets and also have a ARB awning on the other side. Sorry to revive the old thread. But how do these low profile racks affect MPG when unloaded? I know things like a RTT will KILL MPG. My plan has been to keep the roof of the truck clear of a rack. But i figure with a low profile i might be able to keep it unloaded during long highway drives with gear inside the truck. But then when i get to the destination i could transfer gear to the rack and have the interior more open. Driving around on the trails or forestry roads with gear on top should not matter about MPG and would open up the interior for sleeping.
