Yep, thanks for helping drain the wallet. I Just bought it on amazon along with the nice hard case you suggested on page 1. After my alternator died I don’t wanna go through that again. I was looking at the zero gravity and noco, and your review and others convinced me. More power then I need but rather have it and not need it.

Ha! Sorry to contribute to wallet drainage! ;)

About the “more power than I need” thing. That’s true. BUT...it also means I can comfortably use it in my tent for various power if I want, and never worry that backup starting potential is gone. Power to spare is super reassuring.

I actually just cancelled that hard case and purchased the Noco hard case on lightning deal for 20 bucks, has some storage in the case and also the XGC power adapter for fast home charging.

Great move!!
I missed which case you were referring to and was just about to tell you about that one because I picked that one up during a 40% sale off NOCO had, site-wide about 8 months ago.””What’s perfect about it is...it has dedicated space for various cords and adapters built in and the power buttons are protected from accidental pressure.

Also highly recommend grabbing the A/C power charger, since it’s charge time is faster. Or... pick up a cheap AC to 12V DC adapter, so you can do the fastest charge time at home.

One cool tidbit about the NOCO unit is that it can accept charge from nearly anything...and simply charges more quickly/slowly based on what input it gets. So...you can charge from a 12V port...USB...AC adapter, and just about ANY DC plug that fits.

I should go back and edit my earlier post to include a link to that one.

Only downsize is its bulky compared to the other one...but having all the wires and adapters in one place is great. Also...it fits perfectly inside ARB fit-kit side storage (and ya, that’s my emergency toilette paper stash in the bag). :)

FYI noco is not UL approved and if it explodes like a bomb or causes fires (like lithium batteries can do), insurance won't cover it.

I have used mine every month and been slightly disappointed with its construction.

Hmm. OK.

Curious why you’re using it every month.
Battery problems?

What problem are you seeing with construction?

I have personally witnessed other backup batteries swelling and worse...but never a Noco. Do tell...

I have more vehicles than I can count and hardly drive them because of the 200, which feels like my second house. My 200 battery died 6 weeks ago along with my 100, isuzu npr (sold 3 days ago), ford E350, 750IL (sold 4 months ago), S600 (sold 6 months ago), kawasaki klx-250sf supermoto. Had to replace batteries in all of these vehicles. In my experience the 100/200 batteries die 24 months on the dot.

The battery pack punctured easily near the voltage gauge. Not sure how. I use the Noco twice a month. My friends borrow it from time to time. I do like it but my brother is a leading industry expert on lithium batteries doesn't approve anything lithium until they have proper UL certification. People are getting hurt daily with lithium battery explosions (see ecigarettes or iphones exploding). Had I known this I probably would have gotten a regular battery backup. Lithium batteries are highly volatile (see tesla battery fires on youtube). I asked him about the Toyota Jesus lithium battery but he is not a believer.

GB40 on sale for $64 on Amazon for Prime members today. GB70 is $128.

Great price and amazon deal of the day.

But our Forum's safety consultant, reckless has advised us not to purchase.

Love my GB70, always ready when I needed it. Just grabbed the GB150, down to $191 on Amazon Prime Day special. Markuson’s review sold me on getting a 2nd and larger model. More is better in this case !

OK...
But seems like a little perspective in the lithium-batteries-are-dangerous fear thing is needed.

-Literally hundreds of millions of lithium batteries are in peoole’s pockets as I type this. I get that lithium batteries CAN do bad things, but if you write off devices simply because they use lithium...you are eliminating massive swaths of products.

Great price and amazon deal of the day.

With no known evidence of NOCO fires...I would be slow to sound that alarm. I don’t leave it plugged into the vehicle...and I don’t deplete it to zero charge. -Just charged and stored. Blanket statements simply based on lithium batteries in general feel like hyperbole to me.

Lithium batteries are EVERYWHERE.
-I counted the number of various items in my truck (when loaded for traveling) that contain a lithium battery and the number is huge. Just off the top of my head, counting flashlights, and other essentials like phones, tablets, headlamps & every rechargeable item...there are at least 16 lithium-battery-based devices when I travel...plus a number of lithium batteries in chargers (18650). I mean...even our Phillips sonicare toothbrushes have lithium batteries, and airlines don’t give a hoot if it’s in the cargo hold of airplanes...nor hundreds of phones, tablets, cameras, computers...drones +10,000 more.

This tells me lithium is overwhelmingly considered safe by even the most sensitive industries (airlines).

If I only need a jump (or two) to get me back on the road, what benefit does the 70 or 150 offer?

Prob no benefit if only used for a jump or 2. The 70 and 150 have more storage so can be used as bank to power other devices instead of using truck power. That is my purpose for having 2 with larger capacity.

Prime-Day + Mud Forum + Lunch Time = $$$

Mine is on its way..... Thanks @Markuson !

Airplanes don't consider lithium batteries safe and require many lithium battery products to be checked in in case it blows a hole in the hull. Same with UPS/Fedex. I'm pretty sure you can't carry a noco legally on a plane. I have asked TSA about cell phone chargers and gotten mixed responses.

I agree with most of your logic and don't write off all lithium battery products. Obviously most of what you are using has a UL safety approval mark. There have been lithium things banned in USA because of safety concerns hoverboards, samsung note 8, some brands of ecigarettes. My point was that this item hasn't been safety approved. Now normally I am Reckless but recently saw an electrical fire burn down a house and feeling extra cautious.

I'm not saying don't buy noco, im saying be educated about possible hazards. If I knew I would have bought a different product even though I love the idea of lightweight, battery backup for usb devices. I just don't like the idea of a possible bomb inside my car sitting next to me.

Ya...nothing wrong with caution.

By the way... You seem to have interesting friends. Haha! Your one friend was (according to you) driving your 200 like 135mph for hours while you slept.... and now this friend hands your Noco back having somehow poked a hole in its housing.
My 2 cents is... Stop loaning your keys or your gadgets to these friends of yours!!! :p

I do believe this thread has gotten off the rails and I saw this thread going down the tubes so I deleted that last exchange. I believe Matt's comments were not worded correctly and what was there was taken in a way it was not intended.

So lets get back to the discussion

Thanks
