Nice find. It looks to be pretty good for the age. I like the tailgate stop.

I like the vise grip. That held my 80 hood open for awhile before going to prop rod.Added a new member to the family too. I have been looking on and off for a Toyota Trekker for a while and this one popped up. Neat little truck. I'll stress the LITTLE part. I've been around Cruisers for a long long time....forgot how small these little pickups were...it's like 50% the size of anything in a Cruiser.
Pretty neat story about the Trekker and how they came to be. 1981 Toyota Trekker was the forerunner of the 4runner
In any event, it needs some minor stuff......should be fun to play around with and straighten out.

I know where a trekker sits on a farm in Texas, rough shape but cheap.

my understanding is there is about 40 4runners at that location. If anyone wants a gaggle of 4runners, I know the guy for you to talk to.I like that it has a 1st gen 4 runner next to it.....like a 4 runner collection starter pack.
No sliding vent windows on that one...I read that was an option....maybe between the standard and deluxe models or deluxe and SR5. It's not an exact science with these things.

In 1979-83 vent windows were optional on all trim levels and the package came with a sliding back window. My guess would be that they did not spec that since the more expensive sliding back glass was headed to the dumpster along with the back wall of the cab.
I had no idea there was a Winnebago man!It would be sweet if there was a sales commercial for it with Winnebago Man in it.
Any graphics guy worth anything could whip that up for you in short order.I had no idea there was a Winnebago man!
I believe it was sold as a Trekker by Winnebago. There is another version of it's existence that says Toyota sourced out 3 builders....Toyota Wolverine, Toyota Trailblazer and the Trekker.....to develop what would become the 4runner. Dealers took credit for coming up with the idea. Who knows.
Mine is missing this sticker on the rear hatch....

I know one if you don't.
Back to the 79, all that work and no intercooler? Why?
One of several options. **
I assume you have enough hood clearance for a top mount.
