Bought my '75 FJ55 a while back with these white rims. Not sure if they are factory stock rims or not? Thinking about switching them to the plain factory steel rims with hub caps, any opinions???? What looks better??

Thanks Brother! They're in great shape just prob needs renew paint / powder coat. I do like the vintage look of the steel+cap look though. I'll prob keep them and have both....

I have the spokes which were on mine when I bought it. Being frugal, I just kept them and had them powder coated. If I hadn't lifted mine and opted for a rather stock version of the 55, I'd probably lean toward the hubcapped wheel. Not exactly the stock wheel but a bit wider wheel and retain the original look. (I'm just a fan of wider tires on any car).

I could live with those but would prefer the more OEM look of steel with caps. If I were shopping for those I would greatly consider the 16" city racers in gray. You could then run a 235/85-16 tire. The caps are cheap by the way. I don't think a whole set is much over $100.

I'm assuming they're the same size wheel 15"x 5.5- 6 lugs style with the Steel+Hub version? Then I can just switch tires when I want.

Interesting; looks like a nice pig. I assume it's a diesel conversion? If not then I think you need to save rim money for the engine. :D

Thanks. '75 was the first year they came out with the 2F engine. I lucked out also because '75 is the cut-off year for smog exemption in California! Runs great just been stored in the garage for a long time with old gas that's why it runs rough. It has new clutch & rebuilt transfer case so the drivetrain is set. I just need to focus on the interior, need new headliner, upholstery, etc.

I watched a few of your videos and you appear to like the fact that your pig is mostly stock and still has most of the factory parts. If the “Factory” look is appealing to you then factory hub caps is the logical answer to your question.
With that said there is an entire car sub culture that builds reasonably stock or “factory” looking cars with the exception of the wheels and I like that look, think lowriders with true spokes on what appears to be just a clean old car or a pro touring muscle car with forged wheels and low profile tires on again what appears to be a mostly stock muscle car.

For me personally I gravitate towards the cars that still keep that mostly stock appearance while being completely custom verses a stock vehicle with some bolt on parts to make it look custom.

At the end of the day you have a great looking pig and from your videos it looks like you have already done a bit of work to get it cleaned up and I’m sure whatever wheel you end up with its going to look great! Please pop back in here once in a while and give us some update photos as you progress.

Thanks for your input. For a classic a such.. I like the classic look with some modest refinement. I wouldn't want to trash the pig on a rocky trail etc.... Hoping to acquire an FJ80 or mod up my '98 FJ100 with 35" tires...

I prefer the factory steelies w/ hubcap to the wagon wheel look...
