Started coating the frame. Have some chassis saver that I will try and spray with lvlp over the
Rust Reformer.

Oil pan was modded to accept the newer style 2F AISIN oil pump. @Bullzi came out for the day to help wrench. Always a good time and really appreciate the extra hands.

Shackles were the last part of the suspension needed and hopefully I have those sorted and on the way.

Plan is:

Swap suspension out.

Clean frame in areas where I have current access.

Assemble the drive train. Waiting on the head work is getting finished. so hopefully I can get everything done before the head is finished.

front axle rebuilt and discs put on.

rear axle rebuild the brakes.

Still a little hung up on the broken bolt. Plan is to continue to dig at it with a diamond Dremel tool and drill/retap a size up.

other option is to pick up a stud that is same thread pitch and tack it onto the block.

Thoughts?

@Bullzi stopped in again and helped with pulling the front suspension off.

I’ll be trying to clean up the frame a bit more then put the new suspension on.

Front End Friday!

drill as center as possible into bolt with a small bit, take a torx bit and hammer it in, back it out with ratchet.

Works everytime.

I’ll see if that can work.

Your other option is to weld a nut to it and unbolt it. You weld in the center of the nut. The advantage of this is the heat from welding will usually loosen it up if it's corroded.

With the depth and limited space of the hole I’m not sure that is an option. I feel like I would have to drill the hole out large enough that I could place a nut inside the hole to get to weld it to the hardened steel fragment.

The nut does not go in the hole you are drilling out, it sits flush with the block. You are welding inside the nut hole to the broken off bolt.

yah, the extractor chunk is deep enough that I’m not sure it could be built up to the nut. With out welding the whole deal to the block.

Diamond Dremel bits arrive today.

This is awesome and such a beauty! Congrats!

Ran out of black today. Parts will be getting progressively lighter over the next days unless some paint comes in.

These hubs cleaned up nice. They road on @Aravind Dileepan ‘s HJ6X until he needed hubs to speed up his down time during a front end job. Thanks!
