It would appear it is 531.

Looks like the engine bay should clean up alright.

Got into cleaning up the outside a little yesterday. Whatever was sprayed on the engine bay needs another level of cleaning. Going to try goof off tonight should have some arrive today.

this thing might look too new after this treatment.

I was boozey last night and ordered the wrong stuff.

Was trying to get “Goof Off”, jokes on me I guess.

Should have it tomorrow to offer a comparison. Whatever is caked on is slowly coming off.

I only had 20 mins in the garage before the wife came looking for me. Fortunately for me she started with the bathroom so that gave me an extra min or two.

Not sure I’m going to be so lucky the next time #ThisisAlmost40

Looking great, man. This is a fun part of the journey. Every minute of scrubbing makes such a huge difference. Easy to go down the "while I'm in here..." rabbit hole, with that empty engine bay. :)

Gawk, I know! The buddy I had over was saying you should pull the body off for a couple weeks and get it mint.

Hell no! This is a truck to be driven. Fresh’n it up yo and keep driving.

Pulled a bell housing/clutch and flywheel today.

New parts are on order and we are moving forward.

For a Bit of contrast.

That post makes me want to take my engine out, just to clean everything.

This one has a way to go to be running. Butit would be horrible to not get it cleaned up while I have access to everything.

Clutch didn’t have much material left on it so ordered one of those and a ton of gaskets last night. Need to get an order over for suspension parts and try to get those swapped over before the drivetrain goes back in.

Snagged a few hours on the motor tonight.

Oil pan was quick to come off. The gaskets wasn’t cooked all the way thru and the orange RTV said someone had done a dirty deed in the past.

Check out that oil pan plug.

It looks like I will need to trim/clearance the baffles for the new style oil pump.

It’s not like the oil pan was pristine or anything.

Original motor was rocking a 3 speed flywheel

Looks like the current domed piston 2F will be getting the 4 speed version and I’ll put that flywheel in. It’ll be built for speed and not grunt. 👈🏻😆
