The fact that we are wasting technical time and space talking about a Hollywood/Internet celebrity tells me that Land Cruisers are just as ubiquitous as Jeeps and the personages that inhabit that world.

It’s all synonymous.

The client wants what the client wants; I've not seen those headlights on any other ICON / TLC Cruiser. Sometimes you'll hear JW say during one of the test-drive videos that the client requested such-and-such...

How do you think I first heard about Rogan? :)
Ferris, Ben Greenfield, JRE and a few others all good time killers and provide good insight. Listening to how JW got his start was pretty cool. Anyone who can follow their passion, take a risk and turn and be able to make a living doing it gets my respect. It is interesting how we nit pic so many things...everyone needs to relax life is good and life is short. Now lets all go improve our 80's!

As far as 80 specific tech, what's left to be discussed about the platform that wasn't hashed out >2010?

But yeah, this thread is TMZ territory.

Or 2007 or 2005 for that matter. All of this is particularly old hat at this point.

All of this is chat really.

There really is nothing new in the 80 series world currently beyond the @NLXTACY turbo to be honest.

Everything else really is either BS or chat... or one in the same. :meh:

Everything that any 80 series owner needs to know to own an 80 series was discussed a decade ago.

that's because most of the icon/tlc builds to date have been 40s or 60s which have aftermarket friendly small round light housings just like the LR Defenders, wranglers, + g-wagons.

the 80's fedex box sized light housings just don't acquit themselves well to any kind of modification. they get ebay fab real quick.

What about those beefy swaybar mounts?

Eh the 1FZ turbo was done back in 2012, even NLXTACY is old hat. :flipoff2: haha.

Because $300k 80s are beautiful?

No one will ever pay $300,000 for an 80, other than the owner of said truck. A much nicer 80 could be built by a lot of members here for way less.

Once again, this is a waste of tech space:bang:

Not to mention money, time and energy.

Well the 2.8 diesel swaps are fairly new. I'm sure people will soon begin swapping the Lt motor which will be interesting with its direct injection, vvti, and 8 speed transmission. As far as Joe Rogan's cruiser, 300k adds up fast at a restoration shop. New oem parts wherever possible don't help keep cost down either.

If you purchased every available OE 80 series part (fun to dream about) and paid to have it installed, wouldn't take a lot more restoration to get you to that price point.

Or sooner... just bringing it back towards tech. Here is money well spent (or any turbo):
