Friday the 👸🏻 and I made the rounds to some of our local antique malls. I found this lamp for my office.

My dad, who served in the navy in WWII, came home with several 40mm Bofors brass cartridge cases, two of which he polished and made into matching table lamps. I remember them clearly in our living room when I was young. I have looked for them for years in vain, but they are gone now. Recently I even looked on the interwebs to see if I could buy some more 40mm brass and make my own, but there is not much to be had and what there is looks very rough.

My new year is starting out good. I was blessed with a roadside pickup of a used lazy boy couch for the office.

I do have a 52” tv upstairs covered in a blanket, with no intentions of using it in the shop. I don’t hardly watch tv in the house and in that faraday cage of a shop, it would be useless.

I have a TV in the shop, not so much to watch, but for the noise. Its nice when theres a game on or something just to listen to, and look up and see whats happening.

No argument…. However, when I was assembling the 4 post lift in the shop, I had the 1 hour installation video on a continous loop from YouTube and after about 11 times, I actually got to know the sequence quite well. It’s not a regular thing out there but when I need to break the silence….”Alexa, turn on the tv”

I usually will put on a series Ive watched before, Deadwood and Letterkenny as of late, and its something how when its just on in the background, I pick up on things I missed watching it.

Funny, I do the same kind of thing…. If it‘s something I have seen before and I re-play it… I get the gist of things without having the stare at the screen. By looking up once in a while, it re-ignites my mental view of things and I’m back up to speed. We’ve seen Longmire a few times on Netflix and it is a 6 season series so there’s plenty of runtime in those stories.

Very keen observation Dan. I would call it the man cave, except the entire building is the man cave 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m open to suggestions.

FYI gentlemen, I do keep a radio playing in the shop while I’m working.

So yesterday the queen 👸🏻 gave me an early birthday present. She didn’t like the throw pillows she had sent out for the couch, so she bought some just for me 🥰

By the way I took my first nap in my office on Sunday afternoon. ☑️ Sat

I bought a parts lot from marketplace about 3 weeks ago. They finally arrived today. It was a 238 lbs pallet of new and used 55’-56’ GMC parts, truck delivered to my work. He only showed two boxes in the add. There were 8 boxes in total with a number of loose parts shrink wrapped to the boxes.

I have done this before with varying results. Sometimes you get a great deal and sometimes you barely break even. This time I think I did very well. I won’t bore you guys with the details, but the crown jewel of the lot is an original 56’ clock. I have never seen one in person before today and now I own one 🤓

I finally have my new tires and wheels mounted and installed on the S. I am very pleased with the new look. 😎

I finally had some quality shop time today. After giving the S a quick tuneup and bath. I started playing with the GMC project. I have decided not to use the rusty cab for alignment and test fitting. One of the cab mounts had succumbed to cancer, so I wasn’t confident in any measurements I would get from it. The 56’ isn’t insured any longer so I will start disassembly and relocation of body parts to get everything aligned and sorted out.

In the meantime, I needed the roof from Tetanus before I scrap the rest of the cab.

Looks like you’ll have a long term project going on…. Do you ever have anyone else to help or an extra set of hands in there or are you going at this alone
