Another small chance of rain today when checking weather last night. Daughters new rescue lab sleeps in crate at night outside RV in shop. I have been up since 4 am when Marley started barking due to thunderstorms again. She is not a fan of thunderstorms. Of course, I am awake and she is asleep at my feet on her bed. Told Kim, it’s ironic the dog we got to help Kelseys epilepsy induce anxiety has anxiety of it’s own. Great dog though.

Oh, you're awake to watch out for the thunderstorms?
Great, I'll go back to sleep then!

@knuckle47, Kim and I have had labs over the last 29 years. One s***zu during that time. I couldn’t imagine a better dog for us.

The new one, formerly Caroline (didn’t know her name) is now Abby. It’s obvious she hasn’t been allowed to play much probably no fault of her previous owner who passed. Watching her come out of her shell is so fun. I now think she has quite of bit of pyranees in her. She has no idea she should be a 100 pound dog at least.

Her love bites could engulf a basketball. I’m only one she can rough house with as the wife and daughter would be on the ground. I’ve got my work cut out for me but should be fun!

Small downside, Kelsey’s Marley found fresh cow crap in pasture when I was dog sitting the three of them last week.

I’ve never seen one of our dogs effectively cover themselves in so much crap.

That is great Jon!
There is something about rolling in fresh crap that they just love.
I used to have a golden retriever. She was a fairly clean dog, she didn't get a gamey dog smell. But every once in a while I would wash her and right after that she would go out and find some fresh horse poop to roll in.
I wonder if they think it helps them mask that carnivore scent?

It has been a minute since I have been able to catch up on MUD.

I am sitting in the new-to-us house enjoying a quiet Sunday morning.

Moving is quite the ordeal! We lived at the last place for 15 years. That is the longest I have lived at one address. That gave me lots of time to accumulate stuff that I should have gotten rid of. So lots of boxes to unpack! It should be a great summer.

This is how the move began…

You know when I saw that photo of the 3 of you guys and the 3 pooches, I ran to Labrador rescues around here and on-line. Nothing found. I need an yellow lab for Ruby, our golden.. When her friend passed months ago, she has been seriously depressed…. I have never seen it in dogs with my limited perceptions but she was brought here when Bella was 7 and it was her mate for 4 1/2 years now being alone she does not know what to do with herself

We were close to adopting 2 other dogs but both very high energy escape artists…. Ruby is happy go lucky… doesn’t challenge a fence line, in fact does not even bark…ever! Between seeing that picture of your family, all six of you, and my long time friend Mike having had 3 yellow labs himself. I think that’s a great match. Inspirational, like a Norman Rockwell painting … enlarge it and hang it on the wall
So are you saying you’re looking?
I know some people whose yellow just had a litter

Glad to see you back, bro. Missed you in here 🥹

Great pic! I’m sure that garage is gonna fill up. Kim is having heckuva time moving out of the trailer. Rain not helping nor are my suggestions to throw stuff away.
Oh Jon, I feel for you buddy. I am not good at throwing things away. And then when it was moving time I was faced with the reality of my choices - I should have gotten rid of stuff before the move.

It wasn't like we had been planning on this for a long time though. I found out about the house on 24 Feb. Before that there were no plans on moving. We closed on 19 May.

And got the boy graduated from HS, and the exchange student, and shipped the exchange student back to Norway. I am worn out!

Love it. Had Great dane growing up for little while. Watching younger lab Marley walk under Abby on regale basis remind me of Duke.

Abby has several of the same mannerisms I remember Duke had. Gentle giants

I hear you. We have moved 15 times including 6 international moves. Fortunately all moves were organized and paid for by my company. Unfortunately that doesn’t motivate you to discard items upfront. Every single time we only sorted and discarded while unpacking. And every single time we swore to do better the next time. And every time we didn’t. 💁🏻

When I was a kid..we moved too much. I went to 4 different elementary schools and 3 different high schools…talk about how that sucked? I was always the new kid.. that must explain my shyness…(haha). We weren’t a military family…my parents were professional fighters… when they finally divorced, I finally finished high school at 16 and moved on with everything

When I bought out first and only house, I told my wife…we are not moving if we have kids until they graduate high school…. That last one graduated in 1999… WE ARE STILL HERE. . We are fortunate that the house has gotten bigger, we have a bunch of land, on a dirt road , a new pole barn and my 1947 tractor…and while I would love to move…the pole barn and the basement would take 4 months each. I’m too old and my kids tell me..” if something happens to you or mom, you guys would be stuck in another state and alone’.

One thing I am proud of is that my boy got to go to the same school for K through 12.

That was not an experience I had, but I am glad that he got that. He loves the new place. He said he wishes we moved here four years ago.

Lola looks like she knew how to have fun!
