Not to be a downer, Delancys widow Lori sent this to me earlier.
Couldn’t be more appropriate

Will never forget Scraps @scrapdaddy and I with spouses motoring along in formation at a pretty good clip (right at 90 mph according to my speedometer) between Ogden and Boise headed to the Magruder Corridor Pig Party and Deo passing us like we were standing still. Hell of a job on that Pig.

Greetings from the Black Hills Cruiser Classic!
Deo’s Pig made another appearance - 2 years in a row:

One last note from the '24 Classic. The campground we base out from is fairly awesome. The owners created a rock garden for buggies to play on.
Lots of fun:

Yesterday about 3 pm some crazy person lit a car on fire and pushed it off a cliff
It took off. The little town to the east of me is now gone and the fire has burned 73 thousand acres in under 24 hours.
This was the view from my window last night.

This morning the smoke plumewas getting closer a friend called to check up on me, and suggested I go for a drive to survey the situation. I saw bucket choppers flying way too close for comfort.

Not being one to panic I suited up in my very best welding respirator and started cutting fire breaks around my family's 5 acres.

Then I did the same for my neighbors who are pushing 80 and don't own a tractor.

I called my friend who lives closer than I do, but he hasn't called back. I assume he's at work...
Once that was done I stopped for tacos which is my first meal of the day, at 4:00 pm.
I probably won't sleep well tonight either.

Dont see fire going thru almond orchard, are you vulnerable on other parts of perimeter?
Somewhat vulnerable yes.
With the winds and the real possibility of s nearby neighborhood at severe risk I'm not taking chances. Flying hot debris has been known to travel for miles. Also this event has been identified as arson and it's possible the person they arrested isn't the guy... The cops here aren't real bright, and I've learned not to trust them. My old boy scout motto of Be Prepared, has long been my creedo, and it's my responsibility to be overly cautious.
I'm doing what I can to minimize risk.

Sheit, that’s not good. Half our province feels like it’s on fire again this year. Ugh.

As above, look out for yourself and take care.
