I'm trying to figure the best scenario for my 1968 FJ40. The pre-fab, all steel, ready to roll option from CCOT is perfect however they say these only fit '75 - '84 in the product description.

How accurate is this information. After much forum research, I cant find where they would or would not fit my 1968.

Anyone have knowledge on this specific topic?

Yes, soft side doors is my least favorite option, I also have the original doors which I could cut down and modify but that too is not high on my list.

Then there is the Warrior Products option. Anyone have specific info on these doors?

The issue with 75'-84' doors not working on your 68' would be the door latch.

I have no experience with Warrior Products.

If you're thinking of cutting the original doors, it sounds like you don't plan on running them. Much?

The latter doors will work with the latter tub-side hardware.

It took 40+ man-hours to make my half-doors. They're nice, but ready-to-roll is a nice option for even $400 or $500. $1500+ though? Hmm...

Aqualu half-doors are about half that price.

Been running 79 hard doors on my 68 since 1983. Wasn't that hard to modify the tub to use the later catch. Just used a piece of flat metal with holes for the tub and the catch. This section of the tub is thicker on the 75+ so just a matter of using nuts for catch screws on the earlier tub.

Good input fellas, thank you. It sounds like the striker/latch-point can be modified on my '68 tub to accommodate a new set of pre-fab '75+ half doors. And save me the man hours of hacking up my original doors.

Now to find something reasonably priced.

I've been running fiberglass door, maybe not what your wanting, but thought I would share.
The thing I don't like is they are not finished on the inside.

i bought a donor pair of doors then cut them up to make half doors, the only downside is i dont use them enough if at all

Hey, how are you doing!

Hey Dick, I'm doing good. Thank you. It was a reinjury from 3 months ago so not as severe, but enough that I couldn't ride out. Moved a little wrong and the back tweaked. Pretty dramatic exit huh? Lol

It was great meeting you and I hope to see you on the trail again.

I heard you had a little drama yourself on the way out :-)

I just use a pair of steel plates and a latch from McMaster

Good pic of doors and tailgate.webp

Looking at the SOR fibreglass doors, the inside could easily be finished with 3/16 ABS or for a more original look 1/8" door skins wrapped in 1/8" foam and then vinyl. Make a paper template, cut the wood to match, and upholster. Easy to do. Attach with screws or OEM style hidden mountings.
