Rollbar is back from powdercoating. Got it installed along with the rear seat and all the seatbelts.

I was able to stop the telescoping column, but wasn't able to get a key programmed yet

Problem solved and it was my fault. When I cut the old hose off, I scratched the hard line for the rear heater. I took a Jeweler's file and knocked down the scratch, put the hose back and threw on a new spring clamp I had. It's been fine over...

Sounds good, mine are really spongy at low speed

Same.. let me know when you’re ready and if ya want, we can do it together

      I haven't yet, but it's a big reason why I bought it

When I replaced the radiator I ordered the heater T's and hoses as well using part numbers from a thread here. I did receive the updated T's but I'm wondering if I got the wrong hoses. The lower one won't seal despite being brand new with new...

Rollbar has been dropped off at the powdercoaters for prep and PC. Was very grateful they able to help forklift it off of there. Getting it back on is going to be interesting. Since it was built in the vehicle it's a bit tricky to get it off/on.

Thanks! I see several features I could use. The auto telescoping column is pretty annoying in ours as well.

@badsamaritan this is the thread about the gizmo I mentioned this morning

Been on a few test drives and 1 freeway run. Pretty happy with the firebird box so far, especially on the freeway.

RC is roughly 8.5" long overall and roughly 6.5" center of hole to center of hole.

Interesting picture of my original pitman arm and the two I ordered. Left: My OG Pitman arm, 3" drop unknown origins Middle: Cruiser Outfitters 2" drop. Pretty beefy, wish they had the 3" drop in stock when I called because I think I would...

From the eBay listing: 1964-76 GM Standard Duty Saginaw Steering Box #5691676 4.25 turns (67A) It's a 4bolt box vs. the three bolt I had. Line ports are the same but the firebird box had a different input shaft spline count (.800 diameter). So...

I put the old box in a vise and let the pitman soak in Kroil for about 6 hrs. I used a screw type puller to get it under as much tension as I could and then hit the exposed end of the pitman arm with a baby sledge hammer. Came right off. Now I...

A huge complaint I have had about the FJ40 is how twitchy the steering is, especially on the freeway. I purcharsed a 4bolt, 4.25 turn steering box off of a firebird and started swapping it in. I was hoping this would be a simple swap, but so...

Made a return trip to the fabricator's today to re-do the seatbelt retractor brackets. In the end, we decided to ditch the 90* bracket that was on there and just add a new collar/bung to the rollbar itself. The issue I was having was that the...

Sounds good, we are at the same house, let me know when you're coming to town!

So cool that your old FJ came back to you. Chevelle still looks great, happy you still have it. Second kid, wow, I've been away.. First has to be a teen by now. 69 Firebird project went in front of the FJ. With it off to paint I'm starting to...

Hi @LuckyDog ! Long time no see! Hope all is well on your end. Chevelle is still here chugging along. I sold our Blue FJ40 right after we left Washington, and 11 years later it popped up 15miles from us in Encinitas. So we bought it back and...
