Again I have no firsthand knowledge on the forces involved but all the systems linked have heavy snap rings on steel to retain the axle puck then aluminum dust covers, using the aluminum cover as part of the retention system might be a question better answered by one of the Trail Gear engineers .

The spacer would work, but if you use the axle shaft as the point where the spacer is retained on the outside, then the shaft and drive slug will still walk out of the diff into the retaining cap.

Is there no snap ring groove on the inside of this hub to capture the slug against the inner shoulder of the hub? If not, have one machined in there and the problem will be resolved after sourcing the proper snap ring. The Dana 60 snap rings aren't too thick since there isn't a ton of force pushing the axle shaft in or out as a result of all of the engaging splines being straight cut.

The axle shaft splines in relation to the drive slug. If done correctly, there would be no more than 3/32" of axle shaft movement in relation to the drive slug. I would also send the slugs to RCV so they could make the splines a tight fit as well.

The splines if tight at first will loosen up over time I suspect.

The axle shaft won't walk out through the slug no, but if the slug is not retained in the hub with a snap ring against the hub body, then the slug and axle shaft will walk out (together) towards the retaining cap.

The idea is that the cap and the spiral retaining clip hold the hub and spacer.

Gotcha. I missed that. In the install video there didn't appear to be a retaining clip, which is what I was based my points on.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who this is confusing.
They need to make a kit to use these for rear axles.

I tend to agree to an extent, but I've seen several D60 rear end kits that use spiral clips and a few threads on Pirate have posts mentioning they like the spiral clip since it can be removed with a screw driver. I have not seen anyone say they have failed them.
