Sorry for asking something that is probably in the thread somewhere...what engine management are you using

Ordered my new 3/4 tub. The wheel opening will be opened up slightly and moved back so I can stretch the wheelbase. Not sure if I'll use fj60 springs or just flip the stock springs to achieve this.

They are also going to cap the b pillar for me...

Bought a old 4plus bumper for a great deal. Very well built. I'm modifying it a bit for my needs and will repaint it...

I want the cooler/gas can holder thing to be removable easily so I can have the ambulance doors open for occupants to easily get out. So I Sawzalled it off...

Then I roughed up the bumper for paint and cleaned my cuts...

Got some freel fj60 rear Springs. They are pretty beat. Trying to bring them back to life. They are what I need to get the wheelbase stretch I'm after. Lots of rust. A couple of the bottom leafs are either really rusty or cracked. I'm going to use 40 leafs as replacementsoon for the bad lower ones.

I'm changing my traction bar setup so that it's flatter and longer. It's going to be a telescoping bar rather than the traditional shackle type. The rear of the skid plate seems like a great mounting point for it. My existing skid plate is fairly strong. But not that strong unless it is beefed up. Existing skid plate:

Hacked the back off and added some beef. Turns out a piece of 2x2 fits nicely between the rear of the T case and behind the parking brake drum.

That's as far as I got for now. Will finish another day.

I like those shackles man, where did you get them from?

I love how accommodating aqualu is when it comes to slight mods like they are doing for the wheel opening ... nice job on the basket/carrier as well

Are you planning on covering the skid plate on the bottom? Where I'm from it would get hung up with openings that large

Great job on the build ... you got some good vision for her

Thanks! I've thought about covering the holes but they've only held me up a few times over the years. So they will probably not get closed up for now.

So I ordered lizard skin ceramic liner to go underneath the floor. I figure it will be good to spray underneath the floor and underneath the Trans tunnel to deflect heat. On the interior I am going to spray Raptor. It's durable and it's a sound deadener. I will spray it in the rear wheel wells also. I'm thinking I will spray just the floor and rear fenderwells black Raptor inside. The sides of the quarters and rockers on the interior will be blue paint to keep it stock looking. I'm also going to mess with the rear jump seats and make them fold out of the way better. For rear springs I'm going with rear fj60 springs. I flipped the military wrap and drilled new holes. Also ordered granite paint and new slider pads for them.

I admire your fearlessness and vision when it comes to fabrication and modification of your rig. You obviously have good tools and work environment which always helps but the end product shows off your ability and skill. Ive enjoyed reading about your modifications; it is a different world than I live in (call me Mr. Stock, from the factory, boring, etc.) but I have a lot of respect for anyone that puts so much time and effort in to their work. Looking forward to any future tweaks you come up with. . .

Hey @White Stripe, if you would post up plenty of pics. when you prep and apply it. I'm thinking of using it also for that very reason, I don't want my footses getting hot during the summer if I want to bare foot.

Thanks. Nothing wrong with stock, 40s are getting rare so it's the best route to go to retain value. Your build is coming a long nice and is going to last a long time. Mine hasn't been stock for a long time. I like to camp and 4wheel with it in addition to daily driving it when its nice out. So thats why its built up. It is quite the experience wheeling a 40 these days since its almost exclusively jk wranglers or jeep cherokees out their, sometimes some 4runners or pickups. If you run into other jeeps on the trail in a 40 its almost akward. I drove by a group of jeeps airing up and they are all out of their jeeps talking and hanging out. I pull up in a 40 and everybody stops what their doing and just stare at it lol. Last time I was on the trail my friends wife said she overheard one of the jeepers say to another, "Thats a real original fjcruiser, thats too clean to be out here." Its like Im riding a black rhino or something haha.
