I got side tracked from the cruiser by a piece of stone.
This is a 170kg piece of granite that is nicely flat.

this was before transport and the next at its new home.

I’m now working on a cabinet to go underneath.
 
Had a bit of time this evening got the band saw out.
spend some time yesterday to calculate the sizes for the steel and cut them today.

After cutting I made them fit and rigged up the first square.

next phase, frame starting to come along.
bottom tacked on one side and the rest is clamped.
the top two bars must be positioned at the bessel points.

Ordered a set of wheels and working on getting a DRO installed on the lathe so I can turn the Bessel points.
This is where it stands now, hope to have it ready for paint this weekend.

Finished the other side and found out that DHL screwed up my delivery for the wheels.

After the first part learning how to swing a hammer on an anvil with some hot steel in between, I started with making my own blocking hammer.

Well assisting as I was not trusted with the air hammer.😏

after a few hours heating and forming, by hand on the anvil with the occasional assistance of the air hammer 🤫 I left it in the fire to fully come to rest. This is after glowing in the sand box during the cooling.

still a bit to bot to handle but no longer red hot.
today I am going to grind and polish before it can be hardened and tempered.

this is realy a fun excursion and you learn a lot in the process.
 
Time for an update.

Steel work is done, just need to get three feet with M16 thread.

Drawers are almost finished, just need to finalist the fitting After the painting of the frame is ready.

Once the drawers are in the rest of the panels can be fitted and painted.

And it needs to be finished asap as some new toys are comming to the shop.
 
New projects for the workshop.
I Found this realy nice Swiss Made grinder with a fantastic looking pedesta.

then there is the surface grinder. It needs a good clean up and a new paint job.

And last but not least a big project, a milling machine. It is partly disassembled ang has a few small broken bits that need repair OR replacement.

Ok it’s turning into a mild rebuild.
 
In the mean time this is getting cleaned and most likely painted in its original green.

It even comes with its own vacuum unit to keep most of the grinding dust out of the shop.

needs final adjustment on the drawers and some grips attached to open the.
sides and top will be added soon.
and almost done with the Bessel points.
 
He will be moving upstairs
 
Getting serious in there, full on machine shop!
I didn't realize you had the space for all this equipment, nice work!
I have taken the 40 to pieces but have to finish the grinder and mill to create the space to build it up again.
press and polisher are upstairs now, looks like the blasting cabinet is going up too.
 
Ordered some bearing for the mill but they didn’t arrive yet.
Then on with the cabinet.
panels made to fit, screwed them in and filled the space between panels and frame.

the drawers have to be made a bit smaller to compensate the paint thickness
