I was looking for a felt strainer for my milling machine. All I could find were located in the US. Then I found a Dutch company selling for Hardinge in the US. Harding has it listed for $24 ex shipping. I received a quote from the Dutch company for €58 ex vat, ex shipping. We are talking about a piece of felt with metal bracket.🤯

Strainer, as in a type of filter? McMaster-Carr
It is a felt disc that is held in place by a metal ring that is screwed to the top of the quill in a Bridgeport J-head. It basically distributes the oil for the spindel bearings.
I just need to know what type of felt it is synthetic or wool. I can make it myself then.
If not I will order it through my brother in law in Colorado.

Started painting on the mill, first to see if the paint I used for the cabinet worked on the mill.

it actually came out better than expected.
So next step finding the matching color as I don’t want to do the whole thing.
This proved harder than expected but I found a decent match.

it is a bit lighter than original but it will get darker when it dry’s.
