Mistakingly ordered 3FE lifters and pushrods, so....

NIB Cryo'd 3FE Pushrods and Lifters $300 OBO

Onur loaned the correct 2F parts, hoping to minimize delay, but the machine shop isn't running a cryo load until next weekend, so dead in the water on engine reassembly for a couple of weeks.

Axles will continue, hopefully she'll be back on all four soon, since tires are shipping soon, too.

I suggest something roundish, and made from a rubber type of material. :p

33x10.5x15 KM2s I bought from AlbertoSD.

If the Alcans only net 2", as they were ordered to, it should be proportional in appearance and a decent match to the OE gears/H55 for highway speeds.

Plan to run on the wheels that it came with, hoping I can figure out what brand to order a 5th for the spare and the rear center caps having recently seen on a 40 that looked decent.

So what you have won't work?

No.

The rocker supports and springs from the early 2F head won't fit.

When Jason asked if I wanted used rocker assembly, when I bought the late head last year, that'd been disassembled for testing, I said I didn't.

Didn't think to order rocker supports or springs.

Difference in thickness was noticed, but mocked to check clearances at valve cover.

Not more parts ...

Tucker

My sentiment exactly.

Rocker supports are on the way, although I don't know that it's been confirmed that the 6th is the oiler variety.

Springs are NLA, so hoping Jason has, or they can be sourced to replenish what's being pulled from another 3FE head.

Edited: All supports are now the oiling variety.

Chris,

Tell me again, Those are new gears or no? 4.11's. Pattern looks right on.

Original 4.11 rear.

Had to pull to swap OE spiders in for locker, plus replaced bearings in both front and rear, as a preemptive measure and to appease the voices in my head.

Going to swap front for rear, after refreshing both, regardless, but they the gears looked good enough to run.

What's your secret for stumbling on to this stuff? I need some lessons.

Y'all wanna see something truly amazing?

No, I'm not currently purchasing.

I would've at the drop of a hat last fall, after a worldwide hunt for many months, but bought a good core, instead.

Not saying I'll never buy, but not right now, and if deserving of any credit for anything, it's exercising restraint because the voices in my head chant "need"....

1986 NOS ME spec 2F (3F) head, the non-US no smog variety.

Found months after I'd given up on it being buried in the container.... Has an 2F NOS block, too.

Did score a speedo....

Scored a replacement roof skin from an early Pig.

Thanks @ecgruen for hauling it back.

Are there any know differences in the roof skin, from early to mid?

Planning to use the supports and the metal, only, but before my next question becomes relevant, would like to see if anyone knew, definitively.

So now the next question....

Does anyone think it's be possible (or necessary/beneficial) to striate or rib the roof skin?

Any suggestions as to how?

After seeing what was done on the eBay roof, with the econoline van skin, I think it's a good idea.

Bad part is, I sold an econoline van to a scrapper for $400 a few days before seeing that Pig, otherwise I'd have tried my hand at it.

Also, if anyone sees anything in the pic above they what, let me know, as I need to clean out my bay, or start personally paying for it ( I hope the situation forces the latter, but another story, altogether).

@tucker74

Came to pull handles and realized I left tools at home. Will get them this weekend, though. Buried in the pile of parts.

Spent a few hours wrenching on a local kid's FJC yesterday and the heat kicked my arse, forgot to return tools to 80, never more glad that the work was done.

The signs of aging are ever present and it's becoming depressing.

A few hours of crawling around on the garage floor, in the heat, and I feel like a ninety year old man this morning. That and the realization that carpal tunnel isn't a temporary condition, one from running a screwgun for too many years, is flat ass depressing.

Several times yesterday I couldn't even finger a 10-12mm bolt in, without them locking up in a death grip, sending a pain to my elbow.

Going to need better facilities for future work, to say the least.
