Beautiful. Did you have to relocate the AT cooler? Also, any issues running the piping close to the turn signals?

Cheers mate!

Yes there are dual AT coolers that live behind the intercooler

Is there a noticable perf improvement with the stock ECU or is this more for the "stage two" folks running >= 7 pounds on a standalone?

Very impressive you shoved that in there without any slice and dice treatment.
This is a hard question to word a response to but I am going to do my best to explain why it will be beneficial for the stage 1 guys

For the stage 1 guys there won't be a significant performance improvement over non intercooled BUT where you may notice performance gains is on hot days where IAT's are starting to suffer. Say for instance it is -7F out like it was here this past Thursday... Power feels amazing because the air is very dense even without an intercooler so you're getting more air in on every stroke. Hot days (95+) you can really feel the truck is down on power compared to -7F because the air is way less dense and you can get more density by cooling the charge air with an intercooler but you aren't going to be able to cool the air down to -7 on a 95+ day no matter what you do so in reality the ambient air conditions are going to dictate performance more than if a stage one is intercooled or not when running stage 1.

Where the intercooler will help the stage one guys is it adds another layer of detonation protection on hot days. We haven't had issues with pre detonation but I also haven't been cruising through Phoenix AZ on interstate 10 when it is 118F degrees out and hotter on the asphalt... It will help protect your investment into your 1FZ and you'll gain a bit of performance back on those summer days and lets be honest, most of us use our cruisers more when it's hot out. We got a taste of the 50's this past weekend and I am itching to get on the trails.

Stage 2 guys, you're working the air enough with the turbo that it is mandatory

It's really easy to turbo any OBD1 80 series. You don't have to have any of that stuff. You just remove the ECU, distributor, and change the spark plugs out for no spark plugs by installing a 5.9 Cummins lol.

It still runs OBD1 though . . .

These look awesome... Some trans cooler questions:

What is reasoning behind dual coolers? Instead of using 1 larger cooler?

Where are coolers made? Australian made?

It’s pretty tight there. Radiator, condenser, intercooler and then the AT cooler. The Australian PDI has a single very thin one but smaller.

I’m curious to see the full installation. Regardless this setup looks fantastic.

Where are

We talked with our partners and transmission experts at Wholesale Automatics when developing the package and they recommended those coolers since we didn’t want anything thicker. If they were even a 1/4” thicker it would require tons of trimming to make everything fit

So are you guys going to run coil packs instead of distributor then? Very eager to see the power difference or benefit of going with the 105 head/intake
Not really an apples to apples comparison since this doesn't have an auto to rob all the power and this one will end up at a boost level that is directly related to if we can intercool it. Going to be tight!

Was making my rounds in the shop today and it looks like we have an install going on here!
Truck is also getting 4.88 gears and a valve body, we did a 0-60 run with the Dragy, will do another with boost and then with the gears done

Truck is lifted with bumpers, sliders, rack, and 37’s

Matt please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything. Love that your getting your hands on one of these!

We will also be doing full 3” SS cat-less exhaust

First test hit. No exhuast other then supplied downpipe. It's still a pig off the line but after it gets up to 15-20mph it rockets up. Hit 12-14lbs so will have to address that :geek: . . Definietly looking forwards to testing after we get the valve body put in.

Next up, valve body,an actual exhaust (which I am expecting will restrict it a bit) and then some 4.88's.
This turbo seems a lot more responsive then the Borg in the WE kits. I've done a few other turbo 80's now and would REALLY like to put a looser converter in one. It actually will build 2-3lbs brakestanding it, it would be amazing to get another 5-700rpm of stall speed

While I dont like turbos without intercoolers I do like how compact all that plumbing is. What’s the plan to fuel for the boost?

Going to turn it down to the “acceptable” 5-7lbs and send it on its way.
