Dobinson’s front 4” Flexi installed. This coil is shorter than the rear, about 22.5” free height. Way more coil than the front can use in any case - I dropped the whole front end on both sides to the stretch point of the brakeline, leveraged out the old coil with a 4’ bar and kick method, and then used compressors again for the Flexi.

As compared to the FOR Gen II it replaces.

I’ve picked up about an inch of lift at all four corners. I’m right about 25.5 hub to fender (no flares), wrapped around the tire. I’ll measure more carefully tomorrow in the daylight.

Ride quality for my relatively light rig with the Fox 2.0 remote reservoir shocks is outstanding. The front feels pretty much the same outside of what I think was some coil damage from my accident - the front driver’s got torqued pretty good with frame bend and a bent radius arm and it had lost about a half inch of height.

It’s the rear that feels like it has more control - there is a lot of extra coil and it feels extremely well dialed. This seems a shift in rear coil design philosophy, more than just “longer shock”.

Definitely a clean 4-4.5” lift and seems very well thought out and executed. My 37’s are going to look a little bit small now. The coil color, OTOH, is perfect.

How was the install and did you need a spring compressor to get those in?

Holy bumpstop Batman!!!

That’s a 2” extension. The front only uses 3-4” of up travel flex in side to side articulation, but a big hit at speed can easily bottom your shocks because the bumpstop can compress.

I’d always debated whether or not to use it and finally decided it made sense for high speed running. i.e. the entire front end compressing equally. I don’t debate anymore.

That 3/16” of remaining compression you see in the dirt line at the bottom of the shaft above the rubber bump bushing is what was left of shock travel hitting a curb at about ~10 mph after hitting an errant Mercedes.

We don’t expect those kind of impacts, but that’s exactly what the front end jounce system is for - if all you do is barely cover the shock body up front, a big hit will easily get past your bumpstop protection and the shock and its mounts will take the impact.

It may be slightly more of an issue for me since I run eye mount style shocks and both ends on the front need an adapter and this compresses the shock extension by about 2.5”.

Although 37’s will get up into the fenders on a uniform up travel hit where the tires aren’t angled in on articulation, so you don’t want extra up travel anyway. It simply isn’t useable unless you keep your tires smaller.

Took about an hour to do both sides, but fronts are super easy so long as you drop both sides at the same time to the max stock brakeline extension.

I did use spring compressors - didn’t need much, maybe 2”. I didn’t feel like scratching up the paint to lever them on, but probably could have. So I just compressed them to about a half inch shorter than the FOR coils and no problem.

So all four corners are sitting at 5.25” hub to fender, tape measure wrapped around a 37x12.5 with a 1” wheel spacer. No weight on the front, 150 lbs or so in the cargo area.

I have not done any research on Slee lifts... If anyone wants to post up any specs or info please do. @sleeoffroad Christo would you like to contribute?

Same with Ironman... @helocat Mark are you on mud anymore?

@orangefj45 would you like to comment on any Terrain Tamer products? Joey @NLXTACY ?

I’ve tried to ask them for specs and they refuse to give any! So I won’t be their customer because of that.

Yup I vote with my wallet, granted I only gone through 3 sets of new springs and soon 3 sets of shocks in 4 years so my vote probably doesn’t mean much.

That sounds like trying to make OME work.

I’m in the same boat as you. Started off with a budget lift and over 3 years have spent more $$$ swapping springs and blowing shocks than if I just went with a Slee or Stage 4 Slinky full kit in the first place!

All this info in one place is great, now the problem is there’s TOO many choices, hard to pick who to go with.

Just for the record I have gone through 12 coils & 12 shocks to be were I'm at in 3 years.

This thread is for a very small percentage of people.
To be quite honest most really don't want to care about how tall a coil or a shock is.
Seriously, they just want to keep it simple & have a suspension expert hook them up with a kit to suit their needs.
There is nothing wrong with that, in fact its great we have venders that can make a living off one brand called Land Cruiser.
I'm glad the 80 series is a growing platform & venders are starting to make products for these awesome rigs.

The whole reason I started this thread to be quite honest is for me. I wanted one place to direct people to when they have a specific question about 80 series suspension specs & info.
Thank you to all that have contributed to this thread.

For me, I'm just an anal measuring dyslexic perfectionist that cant remember or spell worth a crap... is there anything more funnier than that? Ha... that's just funny right there... so I need some spell check from you all at times... my phone is no longer any help, in fact just the other day realized extension is not spell like exstention... Haha. just PM me will you if you see something that needs correction.

later

Don't you want to know what you're buying?
What is in your food, drinks, shampoo, toys, etc?
Sure I want to know. That doesn't mean companies will always be willing to provide the details. I can understand why they want to keep some information to themselves in a competitive part of the market. If I can't get the details, I'm still going to make the best choice I can with the available info. Just because one company doesn't provide specs doesn't mean I'm going to exclude them from my choices purely out of principle. What's the saying, "cutting off your nose to spite your face"? Hypothetically, let's say Rancho was the only company willing to provide coil specs. Would you just say, "to hell with Slee, Icon, Slinky, OME, Ironman etc they're not getting my money since they won't give me the info I want? " when you know that the Rancho coils are the absolute worst choice possible?

For me, when the specs aren't readily available the best thing I can do is gather first hand feedback from people that are already using it and then try to experience it for myself firsthand. In this case it would be riding in different trucks that have the different setups. Fortunately I live in an area where there are a lot of built Cruisers that are set up in a variety of ways so I'm able to do that without too much hassle.

I find it comical that we are arguing over the ratings of a high-performance coil or shock whether it be extended or collapsed or coil specs with the manufacturer. We as consumers are not asking to the secrets to how it’s built but how it performs or it’s capabilities.

I’m merely asking for numbers to get the best possible performance for my rig.

@GW Nugget thanks for starting this thread but it has derailed somewhat. I suggest all posts regarding this topic be erased and all pertinent info stay. Ok I gave my 2 cents

I hear ya, but it's pertinent info and I haven't seen any arguing. The information isn't available from all companies and people viewing this thread will want to know it or know why they can't find it. It may seem silly for a company to not be willing to give the specs, but apparently they have reasons for not sharing them that they feel will safeguard their product. I want to know all the specs too. Unfortunately they aren't all available.

I was just looking for it. It was John's thread. I don't see it.
I went into his profile today looking for it & didn't see it.
