City Racer Carburetor in a 1984 desmogged 60

I’m very happy with this set up. I’ve run it like this for about 7,000 miles without issue.

I’ve got a diesel style air cleaner so no vacuum ports on the air cleaner. I run the distributor advance off of the port by the carb, the factory vcv to vent the distributor and my ac idle up off the filtered source on the intake.

It runs great and has had no issues. The two downsides are that I don’t have a charcoal canister that works properly so my tank doesn’t vent. Hasn’t cause any real issues but it’s annoying. I’m also trying to make HAC for an upcoming trip, but I’ll likely just reset the timing when I get above 4,000 ft.

I’ve run a stock “rebuilt carb”, a trollhole pos, a 200,000 untouched oem aisan and now this city racer. The last two are by far the best.

@HemiAlex if you get some time could you shoot message me some pics of your set up. Laying it all out and want to make sure I’m following you!

So I’m working on my desmog and got the truck running. But I am getting a Smokey/steam type of stuff leaking out of basically every where on the right side of the motor. It’s hard to explain easier to show in videos. Any ideas? Truck ran fine before it was parked and only had 133k on it. Any inputs would be appreciated. Have a million pics and videos I can send of the setup.

You’ll probably get more responses on that if you start a new thread...Smokey steam from motor may be a catchy title.

So, after this post I just let it run. I’ve been cutting it off after after running it and messing with it. And it appears to have stopped. It had been doing it prior two weekends with me running starting and stoping but apparently whatever it was was just burning off. Now I’m battling a/c idle up issues. When I cut my a/c on it revs from 1000-2000 and just keeps bouncing. When I cut ac off it goes back to normal.

Rather than start a new thread, I figured I would piggy back off this one. I have an 84’ desmogged by the PO. Was running the stock carb but it was cold blooded and sputterd until warm. For the most part the 60 ran great, some backfire here and there. I went with the city racer carb as well. I followed the otramm instructions for tuning and it purrs. Once I get on the road it stumbles and sputters, first test drive I had it floored in 4th and could barely get over 50. Had to feather the clutch to get going. I’m not sure what to do next. I looked at the desmog routing and I think every l things looks okay b/c the original carb ran okay.

Not sure where the red circled hose should go now, it was attached to the OG carb. I don’t think that could be causing the issue.

Also, what’s the port on the valve cover side of the carb for, it’s capped? Last pic.

Thanks in advance!
