Hey mudd'rs,

Just got back from an epic surf weekend in Neah Bay, WA to find that my truck had been caught in the crossfire of a gang related shooting while I was out of town. My fj60 was parked in front of my house while I was gone. Nobody was injured, thankfully.

There was a mother with a teenage son that moved in across the street from us. The son was a member of a street gang and started problems with the local gang. They in turn shot at his bedroom from my driveway and managed to shoot my cruiser twice.

I will post photo's soon. One bullet entered the front windshield and exited the front passengers side window. The second bullet entered the rear drivers side 'cargo area' window and did not exit the vehicle. It was a 45 cal. hollow point and by a stroke of murphy's law it went into the nv4500 transmission in the back of the cruiser that was waiting to be installed soon.

The trans was in perfect shape, and I have not had a chance to take it to a shop yet and find out how much damage was done. The trans was laying on it's side strapped to a small pallett. The bullet entered the transmission through the hole in the top(lying on it's side mind ye) that is appx. 3" square where the shifter mechanism bolts in. I have pulled out the copper sleeving and a few pieces of lead, but there is much more in there I can not get to. I think I will bring it in to Kings Transmission this monday if i can afford to. depends on how much it will cost to have the front windshield installed. I can do the rest on my own.

YEAH! hooray for gangsters.

Special shout out to Mike, from FJtoys.com, who hooked me up with a great deal on the replacement glass! THANKS MIKE YOU ROCK.

Holy Smokes! I'm glad everyone was alright. That could have been bad.

Too bad the bangers didn't eliminate each other! That way they couldn't wreak havoc on innocent victims next time (via/ bullet holes in FJ60's), or even worse of course. :flipoff2:to bangers!

I had a "debt related" shooting in front of my townhouse a few ago. I actually didn't even hear any of the shots, but heard the dogs barking. I figured it might be kids breaking into cars, so I went outside with my service weapon only to find out it was a bit more. Everyone was gone, including the victim, by the time I got outside.

The "victim" got shot 8 times and still drove himself to the hospital. Those gangbangers have more lives than cats.

Glad to hear nobody got hurt in your case. Too bad you can't send a bill to the neighbor punk or his folks.

Of course you can send a bill to the neighbor.
Be pretty surprising if they pay... and might draw more attention to yourself than you want... but you *could* :)

Dazza,

Sorry to hear about the damage to your cruiser. But I can say this. At least your cruiser received battle damage due to another persons gun, and not being shot by yourself while out hunting. I wont mention any names. The brother knows whom they are... LOL

Sorry to hear about your missfortune. Maybe the insurance will buy you and H55 instead of putting the automatic or the H42 back together with a bandaid.

Sorry to say, but this kind of thing happens in the suburbs also.
I hope the tranny is ok. One little speck of lead floating around in there could really cause problems.
Don't move, just park a tank in your driveway with the engin running.
