Hey mudd'rs,
Just got back from an epic surf weekend in Neah Bay, WA to find that my truck had been caught in the crossfire of a gang related shooting while I was out of town. My fj60 was parked in front of my house while I was gone. Nobody was injured, thankfully.
There was a mother with a teenage son that moved in across the street from us. The son was a member of a street gang and started problems with the local gang. They in turn shot at his bedroom from my driveway and managed to shoot my cruiser twice.
I will post photo's soon. One bullet entered the front windshield and exited the front passengers side window. The second bullet entered the rear drivers side 'cargo area' window and did not exit the vehicle. It was a 45 cal. hollow point and by a stroke of murphy's law it went into the nv4500 transmission in the back of the cruiser that was waiting to be installed soon.
The trans was in perfect shape, and I have not had a chance to take it to a shop yet and find out how much damage was done. The trans was laying on it's side strapped to a small pallett. The bullet entered the transmission through the hole in the top(lying on it's side mind ye) that is appx. 3" square where the shifter mechanism bolts in. I have pulled out the copper sleeving and a few pieces of lead, but there is much more in there I can not get to. I think I will bring it in to Kings Transmission this monday if i can afford to. depends on how much it will cost to have the front windshield installed. I can do the rest on my own.
YEAH! hooray for gangsters.
Special shout out to Mike, from FJtoys.com, who hooked me up with a great deal on the replacement glass! THANKS MIKE YOU ROCK.
