Stay away from TYC 2282. I ordered it because it was same part number as Koyo so I thought it'd be the same. TYC top is thinner than OEM. The trans cooler fittings put strain on the hoses. The coolant reservoir tank also doesn't line up to the rad. The top rad cap is offset by another 3 inches so the overflow tube doesn't reach. It's a piece of junk, waste of my time.

I would've gotten Oem in the first place but darn they are pricey.

Here are comparison pictures:

Currently waiting on fipg to dry so I can try out my new air lift pump filling up the rad. Will update if there are leaks but I got all new oem hoses and oem tension clamps.

Is that top tank from your 100? How did it get that crusty?
Yeah I seperated my old top tank to get back $7 at the scrapyard in aluminum.

Old rad wasn't even discolored on the plastic tops. However the inlet and outlets were like wet cardboard and discolored to orange. Interesting how plastic wears out and all the plasticizers leach out resulting in this:

When I did my first timing belt job when I first got it. It was just rusty sludge for coolant. I don't know what the PO did, but there was a TB job at 95k at a Lexus dealer and I got it with 165k.

My entire cooling system passages are covered in rusty crust on all the surfaces. Ran several flushes and the crust is stuck.

I'm a 190k now and yeah even after running Toyota pink since 165k, I am still getting that crust.

PO was must of put straight water. When I first went to go look at it before I bought it, I peeked in and was like, oh thats like Dodge orange coolant so I didn't bat an eye. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew it was so sludged with rust.

I got it installed awhile back (apologies for the super late posting lol), and have since driven the LX North & South across country multiple times from Glacier National Park to Midland Tx. Hauling car trailers back and forth in 100 degree weather doing 90 and its cool as can be. Highly recommend this for any 100 series owner. Shoot I’d probably recommend a This brand radiator to anyone who wants/needs an uograde. You can Definitely tell right from the packaging that this is a quality product. It was packaged well with double boxing and the foam/plastic wrapping.

The radiator is a tad wider as well, maybe .5 - 1cm? you can see from the side edge of the core.

The only aspect I had any sense of discontenment with was in the fan shroud attachment. The radiator is smooth and while the’re are attachment points, the surface contiur differences left a slight gap up top as you can see in the picture below, and a mich bigger gap at the bottom. I used the high density marine foam that I used up top to cover up around the 1/4-1/2 inch gap that went around the underside of the fan shroud. Not ideal, but acceptable enough for what the radiator offers in oeace of mind.

Also, good thing I took the advice on replacing the coolant tees as I was definelt leaking. I bought two of the metal ones referenced earlier from Amazon, but swapped them out after a week for the OEM plastic ones as they kept leaking no matter what I did to try and stop them. OEM may be plastic but they last me 200k so I’ll take that over leaking any day.

All in all, totally worth the weekend and effort, and fit without any issues on the LX. If you’re questioning it I’d pull the trigger on this purchase! 😊

Agreed!

Are you monitoring your coolant temps with a ScanGauge or something similar? If so, what temps are you seeing?

Well my Denso from Rockauto looks good but there’s a gash in the box from shipping and a corresponding bend in one of the upper mounting brackets where something pushed down on it. Not going to take the risk of installing a radiator that’s already out of spec, so back it goes.

Bummer! Shipping with radiators is such a crapshoot.

No, I don’t really see a need to at this point in life 😂

My experience with Rockauto for the Denso radiator wasn't great either. It arrived with a cracked top panel. Returned and picked another Denso locally. Man it looks like 2 different product. The locally picked Denso was packed so well in original boxes. The one shipped from Rockauto seemed re-packed from bulk order without protection inside the box at all.

I just installed my replacement they sent. Wasn’t too bad of an install. The heater tees were harder to get to than any of the radiator screws.

Heard a giant bang and ran outside to see the FedEx girl had thrown it down on my porch despite numerous “FRAGILE” stickers. Looked ok though other than some of the fins were tweaked. De ides to take my chances since the truck’s been off the road for over a month now. Then I discovered the radiator cap that rockauto said would fit, didn’t. So I need to order a new OEM. Will pick up some new coolant tomorrow and hopefully no issues with my install.

2001 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 4.7L V8 Radiator | RockAuto

Looks like RockAuto is showing an all aluminum radiator for the LC100 series. Anyone have any background info on this company? It doesn't look like there is a picture of the radiator itself. Not sure if these are the same chinese radiators from ebay/amazon.
Been about three years since this question about the Liland all aluminum radiator on Rockauto for $428 so wondering if anyone has tried it. Any reviews?

EDIT: Just found this thread for the 80 series though still not much info

People have been uniformly satisfied with the mishimoto one, which is similarly priced, IIRC, so maybe not an option that needs exploring?

When I gave Rep. PA66-GF30 (number I found molded in plastic on tops OEM of my 00-01 LC & LX's) said it comes up as made in China.

Hello. I just picked up a 2000 100 series not too long ago. The radiator was replaced some years ago for a leak, it was an independent auto shop not a Toyota dealership. the radiator has this number PA66-GF30 R with a made in China sticker. Are you saying this is an OEM radiator for this year? I only want to know to research which coolant and how much I need as I want to flush the system.

The stamped PA-66 GF30->>> is a reference to the type of plastic used.

PA-66 is a nylon composite used in many automotive applications including most all radiator tanks are made from it- known as Polymide (nylon) 66 with 30% Glass filled fiber- strong and heat resistant but not really relevant to telling the difference between OEM or aftermarket radiators.

Your 2000 uses Toyota Long Life Coolant (red) quantity depends on rear a/c or not >> check your OM for refill quantity

Great info, im always impressed with the knowledge here. I’m a newbie and was not considering that this is just the upper top of the radiator and not the actual radiator. Thanks

Post #35 @hoser posted the badge which is found on the OEM radiator.
