Totally forgot that we had installed some LED headlights we had leftover from an FJ40 project. Not what I typically like but they look pretty good with the new black grille we're going to use.

Troopy and 79 had a good run hanging out together for a month or so.....but we're splitting them up next week. Time to get busy on other projects.

Got some roof work finished up today.....

We started by coating the roof with Master Series Silver......this stuff is great to work with. Amazing how many uses it has and what you can do with it. We swear by it. Best stuff I have used. MasterSeriesCT Coating Line Rust Prevention - Product Info

No real rust on our roof so just one coat....Master Series works great as a primer.

Next up....Second Skin's Damplifier Pro in strategic areas. This stuff really sticks...it is on there for good.

Followed the Damplifier up with the Second Skin Spectrum Sludge....thermal insulator and sound deadener. We like to roll this stuff on....our goal here was to 'fill' in the areas without Damplifier. We will be gluing in a headliner and I want things fairly smooth under it....doesn't need to be perfect. The headliner is going to be pretty thick.

Same process on the floors. Time consuming work. They'll look amazing when done....

So we need to figure out what we are doing with insulation on the floors....I think I want to install Damplifier Pro on the areas where the factory sound deadener was, then maybe spray a layer of Spectrum in to seal everything up nice and make it uniform...then hit it with Raptor. Not sure how it will look with the Raptor over the Spectrum....may have a pretty aggressive texture. Rear won't get any sound deadener....so it would look different BUT...this truck will run vinyl floors so you'll never see under the front. Not sure if we will run vinyl in the rear.

1 coat on the floors....will do another coat on them in the AM. Master Series recommends 2 coats.

We coated the inner fender wells too....probably will pop a hole in the rear ones on each side for drains. It's no wonder these trucks rust so bad....those rear quarters collect dirt and water. Drains are a couple of inches higher than the bottoms as I recall.

@c2dfj45 Have you tried the metal prep and rust remover from them? is it effective? thanks

No....I haven't. I need to. I like that you can wipe it on and wipe it off. That's super useful for some of this stuff. When we do our next order for silver, we'll do some of that metal prep.

We use the POR15 degreaser and metal prep and that stuff really works. Their degreaser is excellent.

Tell me more about where you use the mastercraft silver primer. Do you do the metal prep as they recommend before application? Roll or spray?

We use the Master Series on floors usually.....I've used it on a few frame parts too and or brackets that need a little love. I like it because it will stick to new metal, old metal, paint, rust, etc. It's very simple stuff. I have never used their metal prep solution. We've never had adhesion issues once it goes on.

We always brush or roll it. It's pretty potent smelling stuff....would not want to spray it outside of a booth.

The guy who owns the place that sells it is great to talk to....a wealth of info.

No idea if this is true or not but it must be because I read it on the internet :) ...this was what POR15 used to be back in the day. A heavy aluminum based sealant for rust. Apparently car people didn't care for the silver coating so POR15 altered their formula and turned it black...but the change in formula resulted in a product that wasn't quite the same. I think the guy at the company said that this is what they use on bridges....it permanently cuts off oxygen to the metal, stopping rust. Very effective stuff.

We did my floor in my LV with it....the guy told me to use fiberglass fibers in the material to help fill in pinholes or holes in the floor( this stuff is popular in the VW community). We did that on the LV and it filled up every pinhole. We filled up some stuff that was bigger than pinholes too. That floor is solid as solid can be with this, sound deadener and then bed liner.

Get a couple of quarts to play around with...well worth having it around. Just make sure you really store it tightly sealed. I either use a new metal can for it or the old saran wrap trick between the lid and the can. I try to use it out of cups, never out of the can either. Cures fast in humidity.

When we topcoat next weak, I'll give it a light scuff(you do not want to scuff down thru the aluminum) and then start the bedliner or sound deadener process.

I think the VW guys use it for the insides of bumpers or something.....maybe tail light housings. Can't recall where I read that.

Love those stripes on the side!

Ha....damn it.....I was not going to show that pic until they were done and somehow it got uploaded. lol. Experimenting with the colors and design.

what stripes... all I could see was the SC cobra....

Here is a test.... what catches your eyes first.....

How about the first 3 things:

First.....the double rollbars on the center car. I can't stand that look.

Second...the radiator on the center car is crooked.

Third.....pinup girls and cobras don't really go together but that's a tie with the dumb license plate on the 2nd one from the left.

yeah I’ll forget it lol. It has done that to me. It’s looks sweet though.

I'm trying to teach myself how to do stripes with razor tape or razor line...whatever it's called. It is not easy.

Would you mind sharing the details of those LED Headlights please ?

No idea what the are....they look like JL Speaker lights but I don't think they are. I have another truck in the shop with JLs....let me take a look at that and see if they are the same. I think they're some kind of knockoff. JLs were super pricey the last time I bought them. $350 each I think. Maybe more.

Troopy got its windshield installed on Friday....the dude didn't break it this time. Going to look sharp with all new glass in it. Probably will go with some Llumar Air 80 tint on it....gives it a really nice green/blue tint. The 62 in the pic has the Air80 on it. Great for heat rejection too.

I checked a truck we did JW Speaker LED lights in a few years back....they are identical to the ones in the Troopy....so they are JW Speakers. Nice lights.
