Sprayed the front floors yesterday....and the right side of the truck with Raptor. Sprayed it over the Spectrum sound deadener we had laid down. Turned out a bit chunky....which I expected since the Spectrum wasn't very smooth.

Started the reassembly process today.....so much old worn out junk.

Cleaned the AC unit...it's really in rough shape. Looks like I'll order a new one. Discovered some fun new stuff too.

Pretty sure NONE of this is OEM. And we solved the mystery of where the green wire went.

Let's just say the electrical work done in the Middle East on this truck was 'creative'. These dudes had switches controlling switches with relays in between things and a very strong aversion to using electrical tape on any of their connections. Neat.

Got to use my new blast cabinet to make this look like new....thanks to @AlbertoSD again for it!

can you post a couple of pictures of the ball part? I can't get my shifter out, it only goes up a little and stops. Thanks.

Already in the truck but I think I have the old one. We have a tool that we use on the 40s to get them in and out. I saw my guy using it yesterday. The one on my 79 series went right in....almost too easy.

thank you. I’m guessing I am having trouble with the plastic piece on the end

Good luck with it....should pop right out after you get the lock ring off.

Troopy got a lot of work done to it today.....we played glass guys and installed the 2 side windows and the rears. Unfortunately, the guy in charge of ordering parts(me) forgot to order the runs for the sliding side windows.....so those have to wait to go back in. Not sure how I forgot those.

Went with all new glass...the glass that came with the truck was horrible and most of it wasn't OEM. This is the cool green stuff...looks really good. New gaskets all the way around. I was holding my breath when we did the driver's side rear door...it was pretty tweaked. Fortunately the window fit perfectly.

Installed new gaskets around the rear doors. The doors are TIGHT now....no more rope needing to be wrapped around the door catches to stop the rattles.

I wanted to build the front doors.....new everything basically but since it's a 70 series....that's not very many parts. Some of the parts were leftovers from my power window conversion on the 79 series. So that was good since EVERY part of these doors were trashed.

I had ordered new glass from Cruiserparts.net for the side windows....they were cheap and supposedly are takeouts from 79 series trucks which would work for a Troopy front door. Well that's not the case with the glass they sent me. It was either a 76 front window or an LC79 4 door....they were about 1.5" short which I think is how those measure out. Different shape too. So that was a bummer BUT.....I sent an email to Cruiserparts and low and behold, they said they'll send out the correct glass.

Tough to see but you can just see the difference in size and shape.

Was able to get all the new stuff in the doors.....

A pretty creative repair....may have to address this if the regulator needs adjusting. Washer was not really in the right spot.

The Raptor turned out pretty good in the front of the truck...this is over the Spectrum Sound Deadener....so a little more coarse vs the rear of the truck. Not really a big deal since the front of the truck will always have a vinyl floor in it. Possibly the rear too.

This closeup shows the difference in textures. I sprayed the rear of the truck super fine....we may not always have a rear mat in the truck so I didn't want heavy texture. Probably should have sprayed the Raptor on way heavier so it didn't have so many pinholes....difficult to get good coverage going over a spray in sound deadener like Spectrum or Lizard Skin.

Nice to be able to stash parts in the truck again...

Got this cool piece installed.....need to figure out how we will mount the license plate. Another one of the oddities of this truck and its doors. There were a bunch of random holes drilled in it for different plates. We'll do a bracket I think.

79 made an appearance outside today....
