Do you think you can just swap the speedo out to get km/MPH? Looking to see what options i have for my 73.

I was going to swap the face but I couldn't get the damn needle off....and I know myself all too well that if I'm fighting something, it's just best to have a pro do it or it will get broken and I will end up buying all new stuff.

I'm almost positive he took the entire speedo from the KM/MPH cluster, reset the ODO to match the Troop's KMs and put it in the housing. I think it was calibrated too.

Hmmmm, found some part numbers for speedo, 83110-60751 but can't find that part available. In the 40 world, we had some people print graphics with the adapted spacing for MPH for bigger tires. If I can't find a replacement speedo... Maybe go that route.

I saw where there was a guy printing up speedo faces for 70 a while ago. No more of those though. Maybe the place that did it for him would do another run.

I've never had a 40 that I've actually cared about the speed I was going. Lol. It was always slow or slower.

Was kind of dreading what we were going to do to remove the glue from the headliner......would not have been a fun job for the 19 year old intern. Ha.

But behold the power of the Hotsy.....and it's hot water......the glue went somewhere....not sure where but it's gone.

Nice find. I'm usually all about buying things for my trucks but for some reason the KM/MPH thing doesn't really bother me that much. I think it will in my #2 build though. Trying to pre-talk myself down off the ledge on that one.

I NEED a Hotsy... I'm patiently watching Craigslist for a smokin' deal.

I have a fairly short list of regrets.......not buying a Hotsy a long time ago is one of them. We spent so much time "cleaning" stuff with chemicals and cold water....really doing nothing but either smearing grease around or kind of getting things cleaned that still needed to be cleaned.

I do remember when I worked at Ferrari that we had a pressure washer that was heated...we would clean the motors that came out of cars that were being service. It cleans aluminum like it was born to do it. I'd sneak my 40 into the dealership and wash it off. Lol. No one ever knew....although I suspected the detailer kind of figured that some of the bits of gravel and mud he would find in his area probably didn't come from Ferraris.

And if I had a business like yours I'd already have a Hotsy... hard to justify the going 2-3k price for just DIY work. May try and find a place that rents them. Or take a road trip to Florida...

@cruiserjunktion was the catalyst in talking me into one although it's not really all that hard. Lol. I'm a clean freak so anything that cleans is right up my alley.

The guy I bought it from used it at his house to clean their screened in lanai.....the heated water makes up for the lower pressure so you don't end up breaking or damaging things you're cleaning. We were using it on his driveway to test and it was really cleaning it nicely. I've yet taken mine home to blast that place. The only downside is having to use kerosene....it's not available around us at a pump....1 gallon jug at Home Depot.

Very cool picture of that Red storm of cars. Back in college, I worked in a corvette shop that the italian owner loved Ferrari cars, so typically had a couple with them sitting around. Wish I had pics of that shop.... still recall the line of early vettes (52-55) along the south wall. My favorite was the 57 airbox. Anyway, I digress.

I can't believe they gave me the keys to that shop AND they let me work on my Land Cruiser in there with no one around. Lol. That was a great job. I learned so much. Interesting because that was probably 96 or something. There were 348s in there as new-ish(89-94).....we have two 348s in the shop now and they are OLD. Lol. And now we surround them with Toyotas.

It's one of the best tools I have ever bought. Period. I found mine on CL....it's needed some love but it's been worth it. The level of clean that this thing gets parts to is unlike anything I've ever seen. It's just clean. Amazing. Best $550 I have ever spent.

My only regret is I didn't buy one a long time ago.

Wow. Just looked up the prices new. They are quite proud of them. I could see maybe 2x or maybe 3x the price of an equivalent power washer but that’s more like 7x. Would still like to have one.

$550 was a steal.

One thing I was wondering about.... I'm driving my nearly identical Omani troopy around Dubai a bit now. The idle is set low and does not advance when I have the aircon on, so it tends to stall. Does any immediate fix come to mind? It's been a long time since I've had to fiddle with a motor without an ECU. (Apologies if this is outside the scope of your thread.)

I know on my 60 and the little pickup that they have VSVs that idle up the carb. I haven't gotten into that part of the Troopy yet....I'm sure I will have to though.

There was a really good one at an equipment auction that I saw on ebay(it was about 2 hours away)....$4k unit that sold for $800. Good deal.

I bought one of the big ones from Northern Tool with the industrial Honda engine , it cleans very well but I already had some issues with the burner and it has been repaired twice now in the 4 years that I have owned it , next one will be a new Hotsy for me . In Europe we use a lot of the big Diesel heated Karcher pressure washers and I always loved those but haven't seen any around in the US yet , they where even more expensive then the Hotsy's but I now guys with trucking companys using them for over 20 years now.

While the truck is getting body work done, we broke down the dash. It's at powdercoat. Going with a machine grey...I use it on a lot of our stuff...kind of a no-shine but not dull finish. Had to wait to get a new glove box door in so it could all get coated at the same time.
