Have me a Echo CS590 20” bar. Its been great!!! Lots of low end grunt. Chain kept loosening. Checked the sprocket, no wear. Checked specs on bar. Should have 70 drive links. Chain on it was 72 DL. Came that way. Got some chains. Pro series, full chisel. Also got me some bar oil and some hand chain sharpeners. Old school sharpeners is where its at. Got to see it true up.

New chains will loosen up. I always hand sharpen. There's a good tutorial on arborsite. It's a sticky in the hot saw section. After the chains been sharpened a number of times, the angle of the cutting edge to the raker changes. Filing down the rakers to a a proper angle makes a difference.

Yep. Got the depth setter for the raker filing. Got flat file as well. Figuring out its not oiling. No oil streak on cardboard at full throttle and oiler screw wide open. Need to dig into this.

Or just go buy a Stihl MS400 with a 20" bar. You'll be absolutely amazed. I used to hand sharpen my saws. Too lazy now and it's only $5. I just keep a couple of spares and get them all sharpened as needed. But I think everyone that owns a chainsaw should at least know how to sharpen a chain.

Oh I know. Thats an amazing saw. Pretty penny too. I dont do that much to warrant a MS400. Did figure out the oiling issue. Bar hole where oil feeds was clogged. My cs590 has less than 10 hours on it! Nothing like seeing a freshly honed kerf on the chisel. Hand sharpening it is for me. The Oregon full chisel pro chains eat!!!!

CD, I need to try one of those. Do they need an Oregon bar to run, or can you use their chain on a stock bar?
