Frame was dropped at sand blast/ powder coat 2 weeks ago. After consulting with some on this forum, it seems like powdercoat was the way to go for the long haul as well as resale value.

What has happened in the last few weeks is more parts accumulation and some prep.
I’m going with a 1F cleaner mounted to a Weber carb. The engine bay should be really clean and simple with almost no vacuum hoses cluttering it up.

I'm going with FJ62 axles to mate up to a new H55F and new split case from Cruiser Outfit. The "while I'm in there" sickness has got me running a fever. That said, I've got 2 pairs of FJ60 axles that are for sale.

I spent some time pressure washing the new units and wasn't wanting to repaint or refurbish the axle housings, but it looks like there's too much there for me to not spend a few more hours getting them looking right before they go under the truck.

Any locker plans for the axles?

This took off quick! Going SOA? Why not 33x10.5s on stock wheels without all the work?
Unfortunately, I saw a 60 on 35’s and it was all over. I think they just look right.

Not going SOA. Will have total about 3.5 inches of lift and good backspacing for the tires to do minimal rubbing.

I’ve been accumulating parts and we’re now at the point where I’ve got to put it all back together.

Frame has been powder coated along with spring hangers, cross member, and trail tailor c channels. It looks like I’ll have to bore the bolt holes to about a half inch for the heavy duty hardware included in the kit.

Head gasket, hoses, shift lever, clamps, etc all bought from Stevinson Toyota. Saved me a pile of money with their free shipping and 15% off on Black Friday.

Lastly, the new H55F/Split case combo arrived from cruiser outfit. I think this will be perfect with 62 gears and 35’s.
I decided on a new case because it would save me a lot of time over rebuilding an existing one or paying to have it rebuilt. Plus, it’s brand new.

I’ve got 2 cases I can sell to help cover the cost, anyway.

Great progress! Wow, that frame looks great, and the shiny parts to go with it!

Today's progress. C Channels installed from TrailTailor. Greased bolts and surfaces to try and keep moisture out going forward and to make removal easier down the road for whatever reason. Glad this part is done. Axles and suspension going in are next.

Motor is stripped and ready to do the head gasket. I need to do some reading on doing a HG job and figure out if I should have head checked etc. while I've got it at this point. Progress has been slow with work and the holidays.

Merry Christmas to all you mudders.

Beautiful morning this morning.

Fluid filmed the axles to let some of that soak in and loosen up any hardware that may have been bound up with rust. I can't figure out if I like the way it smells or not.

Cleaned up a few of the odds n ends that had some pitting/rust on them.

Lastly, a very concerning spark plug came out of number 2 or 3.....

Pressure washed the fluid film off. Wanted to have it soak in before applying rust reformer.

2 coats of rust reformer and a thinner layer of fluid film later, these bad boys should be under the frame tomorrow.

I like the rust converter. It doesn’t seem to turn black on bare metal areas, only rust. Fluid film is definitely pimp. Letting them air out before being indoors tomorrow.

Looks good man! Balancing the "lettuce"?

One done. Need to order more Dobinsons spring eye bushings before I’ll be able to do the rear. I had some trouble getting u joints in the plate on the bottom, but @Tennessee80 assured me that’s par for the course.

Used 2.5 cans of brakleen to clean up this steering box in addition to simple green with some toothbrush work. Turned out clean, IMO.

Box is on the frame. Going to replace the steering shaft U Joint just because I have one on the shelf. I’ll have 6 springs on each side in the rear. Hoping that’s about right for a 4plus bumper. Still waiting on some spring eye bushings and then it’ll be a self suspending land cruiser
