@boots4 where did you get the clamp that you welded the hydro assist arm to?

View attachment 1811105 Spent 1/2 hr today getting one of the Chevy bushings out. Drilled numerous holes with drill bit on both sides weakening the rubber. Eventually was able to get a section out and remove the metal tube from the rubber. 3 more to go...

Before you put your new bushings in check the bolt sizes, and check the bolt sizes on your frame brackets! On my Chevy springs one side had a 5/8” bolt and the other side had a 9/16”, apparently the change happened in mid 2000’s? Just something to look out for, it’s a lot easier to drill frame brackets on the bench rather then welded to the frame.

Yes good tip. I found there are 3 different bushings for the Chevy 63. Depending on the year and model. I don’t know what make, model or year my 63 springs came off of. I ran the spring by Superior Off-road and had Huston check it for me. He said he’d have the bushings for it and my rear stock 60s by Friday. He’s a Trail Gear dealer so he would also get the list of items I need for the knuckles. Had the ARB studs in stock. Going to add Aussie front locker and upgrade to Chromoly 30-spline axle shaft.

Good deal. You’re going to have a very capable and fun truck off road. Just be careful with that right foot and 4BT low end power
:D

Cool to see someone else actually building something in the 60 section... not 25 page threads of polished wheels, window tint, valve cover gasket, etc

My dad was never a motor head as far as vehicles go. Electrical motors, sure... it’s what we do for a living.
I’ve wanted to learn and do something like this for awhile now and finally decided it was time. Thanks IH8MUD :rofl:This has been a fun project and cannot wait to wheel this in the snow this winter.

Link to clamp example is in the thread in your inbox, 1st page.

Due to my cruiser being a DD and running it up and down the mountain highway for skiing the ARB air locker in the front is for me. I’ll save money and add it in the rear later. I changed this 60 so much that aside from the body and interior it’s gonna be a whole new beast.

Yea the title change had me thought i missed a build thread. I love snow too just don't get much where i live so i travel to it to go snowboarding.

Yup! And how true too!

@Cruiserdrew pointed me into this direction, reported problems and maintenance issues with the ARB air lockers. Good to have this forum to discuss before installation. Your input would be great on this.
ELocker | HARROP | Engineering, Superchargers, Brakes, Driveline, Engine, 4WD, Cooling

I like the looks of those a lot.
Just remember though for every one person who has an issue with an ARB there are thousands and thousands who have been running them for years problem free.

Air Lockers are pretty awesome, you turn them on and they are pretty instantaneous. They really are something you can turn on and off in an as needed basis. Electronic lockers are not as quick as air is but you don’t need all the extras such as a compressor. In my opinion ARB is the way to go.

Got the perches cut off my front axle after work. Just need to clean the grit off and will be ready for Saturday. Used plasma cutter, angle grinder and flap disc... owe and good ole’ manual labor.:)
