Superior Offroad got almost everything I need today. Went to hardware store for grade 8 bolts, washers and lock nuts. Yikes!!!

Mike and I got some work done. Flexed the spring to get measurement with loaded spring.

Cut steel to strengthen the front corner of frame for front shackle hanger.

Figuring out where to install the front shackle hanger.

A much shorter day with just Mike and myself. Have a list of stuff to continue to prep. My son Ryder helped me remove more bushings and the collar from the inside of the 63 spring eyes. The portable bandsaw made cutting the metal collar out a breeze.

Took some pictures yesterday of my son hard at work on the Chevy bushing removal. Later I realized I caught the moments when the drill bit froze and the torque from the drill spun it into his face. He was alright but the wife and I had some great laughs with him that night.

Whoa! Took me a few to take it all in! Wow! Bet it surprised him! Definitely by the look on his face too! Great wrenching lessen.

@wardharris with Cruiser Brothers got me pricing for Harrop Eaton e-lockers. They are $1295 and on sale for $200 off. Been talking with @Cruiserdrew and am liking the e-locker route more than the air locker route.

Beadlocks look to be a good investment as I want to go snow wheeling. Oregon has a lot of remote forest service cabins to rent that would be fun to stay at. Didn’t know they are not DOT approved but all the tire guys I talked to said they sell them and a lot of people drive them on the highway. Any thoughts here. Also steel vs. aluminum quality wise. Found a nice black steel set for $315.

Huston at Superior Offroad showed me these aluminum ones today for $375.

The remember seeing DOT stamped on the wheel. They are just re-centered HUMVEE wheels. I know the tires are DOT approved, they have to be for military use. I've punished mine off roading and driven at 84mph in them, no real issues. I do have magnesium runflats and use beads to balance them.

It’s the beadlock wheel that is DOT approved or not. Most beadlocks are not highway legal. Hutchinson, B.AD. and some others I’m reading about are. I’m trying to download pictures but for some reason it’s not working. The Tacomaworld article I posted explains the DOT beadlock design really well.

I'll check in the morning, but I want to say they are. The only real negative I can think of is how heavy these steel wheels are with the tires.

Robustbambi has a set on his FJ62. Beautiful wheels, expen$ive though.
My first Toyota
