Less talk more suspension chopping :D
Did you make a final decision on to do for front springs?

Excited about the day. As we start round one of a two weekend SOA conversion. It’s the front axle swap. We’ll be using my rear stock springs and moving them to the front of the 60. Got the Ruff Stuff SOA kit and the Marlon Crawler High Steer Kit. Trail Gear hydro assist ram and my rebuilt drilled and tapped gearbox. With the nice weather it will be a fun a time.

Good choice on the rear springs up front. I love mine set up that way so far. You might want to pull a leaf or two out, I pulled a couple leafs out of mine but they were (very worn out) 2.5” lift springs.

I really want to see how it looks next weekend when we decide how to run the 63s and how level the cruiser sits.
Did you see the Wilwood combination proportioning valve with master cylinder? That looks like a really nice setup.

I’ve installed one of those setups on a customer’s vehicle before. They are very nice, you’d need to figure out how to mount it on the Toyota booster though. Unless you decide to ditch the vacuum booster for hydroboost, in that case there would be a Wilwood master that would bolt up since they use the common GM/Ford pattern.

A great day with Mike, Matt and Jeremy. Lifted the 60 off the ground with forklift. Blocked and stabilized the cruiser with timbers in the rear and front.

Hojack lowering the front axle with floor jack. Kept the rear end of the spring attached so it swing down making the axle easier to remove.

I thought I took more pictures but that gets in the way of progress. Plus my hands were so covered in grease and oil pictures weren’t on my mind. We mocked up and tack welded the passenger side rear hanger. Welded the front shackle hanger. Decided 4” would be the best length for the front shackle length.

End of day picture of mine and Mikes cruiser. Really appreciate all the first hand knowledge and great day of hard work on the 60.

Make sure to post up good pictures of your spring and shackle hanger locations. Now since there’s a few of us running the same spring configurations it’s good comparison.

Are you planning on any wheelbase stretch? Shackle reversal?

No shackle reversal. Moved front spring forward about an inch.

Did you decide to re-use your front springs?

Complete front knuckle seal kit

Looking at the Chevy 63 bushing kit and there is 2 based off years. Unknown what year mine are from so I’ll have to measure or see if there is anything on the spring.

We got a lot done in one day! The previous owner/whoever serviced that front axle before was definitely a silicone junkie. No paper seals anywhere, all silicone sealant. It'll be great to scrape all that off and get the right gaskets. Glad you got the more soupy side on the front axle. :)

Spent 1/2 hr today getting one of the Chevy bushings out. Drilled numerous holes with drill bit on both sides weakening the rubber. Eventually was able to get a section out and remove the metal tube from the rubber. 3 more to go...
