@Tinkertoy I did buy Mark's, but I think getting the fittings was a different package that I didn't buy.

This is the kit I bought.

Yup me too. I think everyone does that.
Thanks for all of your posts. Very helpful. You mention the shifter cable you used. Do you think that will work with a 6L89/90v?

Just fabbed up my plate for the TC shifter. Need to figure out which cable setup I am going to use for the shifter. Really want to change shift handles to something in black aluminum as well.

I don’t see why not. It has quite a range of throw, is plenty long, and the attachment to the shift lever on the side of the transmission is the same.

Question for the LS swap gurus out there. Is a Gen 3 an easier swap then a Gen 4? I have a complete 2004 C5 Corvette with low mileage LS1 that was purchased for a FZJ80 swap. However I've been offered a 2011 L96 6.0L engine and trans for a trade (actually the whole truck will come in the trade), condition still to be determined but it does run.

The L96 might come with a 6L90e, not a 6L80e. It will require machining the output shaft to 32 split. Also, it is a longer transmission which means mounts might need to be adjusted.

I am doing this exact swap right now. L96 with a 6l90. 2010 3500 express van is the donor.

Multiple things to consider actually.

PCM. If you have to tune them check to see which seems easier.
Fans. Are you going mechanical vs electric? The PCM may be able to do dual electric or you may have to figure that part out.
Tranny. The 6L90 is longer. Output shaft would have to be machined. ($200) ask me how I know.
Engine mounts could be the determining factor. If you use stock location. Then the 6L80 will require persuading of the passenger firewall more than a 6L80.

Most likely you will have to do new drive shafts no matter what.

If I had to do it again. For me.
I would do the 6L80 option. Knowing I would fab my own mounts. I would try to pull the engine forward enough I don’t have to smash the firewall too bad.

Hopefully become a real boy soon, and you be Kool 😎 like you all.

I am actually as well. 😁 2020 L96/6L90e. I just pulled the 1FZ, and haven't tried fitting the L96 yet. Cost to have Moser re-spline with return shipping was $133. Shipping to them was $34. I would probably opt for the 6L80 as well.

I bought one of those. Have it sitting on my bench. Don’t think it will work.
That sucks. Why not, do you think? The builder I talked to said it’s the same output as the Australian 6l90 and (I think) a year or two of a police car maybe?

Good luck. We are at the 1st start. Will kick if I put in starter fluid. But isn’t doing anything otherwise. Just cranking.

maybe I am wrong. I never put it in the trans as I thought it might be too short. I am probably wrong.

Well boys. Today we got to hear the rumble of the LS. What a feeling. So much work to get to this point.

I also go the Tcase shifter dialed in with the new mount I fabbed up. Next up is the trans shifter then addressing the wiring under the hood. So close.

Got a 2009 LY6 to go in my 95 fzj just wondered if I need to get aftermarket engine mounts?
Also I need a new radiator so I'm going to get a toyota one do the toyota radiator hoses work with the LS motor?

Thanks

Matty,

There are multiple options for mounts. I chose the path of getting the adapter and then using the orginal cross member location to determine where the engine would sit. Assuming you are using the Marks adapter, then the Transmission you choose will either push the engine forward or backwards. I have a 6L90 which is slightly longer than a 6L80. For me, I didn't have to persuade the firewall as much as 6L80s. I also have amazing access to the top of the trans. All of this aside...I ended up fabbing up my own mounts. (I had never welded before this moment.). You can do it. Or hit up @cruisermatt I think he has mounts you can just weld on.

I am not positive on hoses. I have only purchased the top one and I went into the store with the curves in mind. Don't have the bottom hose yet. Honestly...for you that sounds like a ways out. I wouldn't worry about the hoses until you get the LS in and mounted and ready for the 1st start.

I used these. They where cheaper when i did the swap in 2020

I am almost positive you will have to build a custom mount for your TC shifter. What I didn’t do was build it and mount it here. Depending on your use case might try to do it here. My TC moved back an inch or so so I had to add some length to my linkage to get it to be where I wanted it.

I’m using the Delta shifter console and the boot for the Tcase doesn’t allow for much room so it was some trial and error. Pics coming soon. The rig is a mess.

was thinking about pulling the dash because I am anal like that and want to clean out 25yr old dirt.

And so it begins, L96 6.0
