WOW, very strong words !!

Haha, although cool, not what I was going for.

I'm looking for the "holy crap I had no idea" little nuggets of info found within 68,000 threads on the 80s section that only the few who have read thru it all know about and gets discussed every so often.

* Like, did you know that there are no 13, 15 or 18mm bolts or nuts used anywhere on the 80 series?

* Did you know there is the tuna can under the air filter housing?

* Did you know that thing behind the bumper mounted on the frame rail is the HVAC's outside ambient temp sensor?

Etc etc
Did You know Your vehicle VIN# is on every piece of glass except the passenger door wing windows. If it's original it will match truck VIN. If replaced might not be anything or VIN # of donar truck it came out of.
But You probably already knew this.

Not from the factory. That's a dealer-added gimmick to obtain additional profit.

Well that's a thief-friendly feature. (SURPRISE! if you've changed the glass, though.) Now I have to check all my windows...

Worked a Honda lot as a teen - so I can back it was a dealer add-on like ‘paint sealant’ - some $200 in 1990-91 USD.

My P O was a Beverly Hills owner, I have the VIN etched glass too.

Did you know that some of the manual seat truck with leather interior have OEM fabric door panels under the leather sections?

I dont know if this is all manual seat trucks. But I think the manual seats were all fabric and the leather was a port install.
I’m redoing my door cards and found the oem fabric underneath. It’s a 94 manual seats and they were leather.

Aftermarket leather kit added after-the-fact. there were NO manual leather seat trucks from the factory.

I learn sumthin every time I read this thread, what it is I sometimes wonder though.

That is what i thought. Was it added by port or dealer often? I have seen it mostly on 94s which is an odd coincidence.

Seems a natural for this thread:

Strictly aftermarket or private distributor.

Mine showed part of the consumer protection plan for $695.00. Also, they show cloth seats, but it had leather throughout so port or dealer install.

Been in too many 3FEs and I want that time of my life back. I’m obviously an idiot.
Obviously not time wasted from the amount of resources you were able to harvest into new ideas and ingenuity for the later models. Brilliant!

95-97 give me the basis of the business. 3FEs, as soon as I start caring about them, will guarantee my retirement funds 🍺

😜

Upper right-hand corner.

"Gulf States Toyota INC. Independent distributor" That's their private accessory stuff. Dealer fluff at the distributor level.
