Say, what are you using for a throttle cable?

I just got an FJ80 cable from the junk yard because it is much, much longer. I needed it to to run to the passenger side fender where my cruse control actuator will be mounted (factory cruise). I had to file down the nubbin on the gas pedal end. It was round and did not fit. Now it is cylindical and does fit.

I also picked up the high and low pressure A/C compressor hoses. I don't know if you will need them if your 3FE was from an FJ62. I did because they are a funky configuration on the FJ80.

The pedal and cable I have in there now came with the truck - IT's A MESS!!:D

Iam using a FJ62 cable and mini truck pedal. Randy might of already changed it and surprised me, but we have a deadline for round up, so I'll deal with that after I get back.

Because we still need to fix the engine mount and the clearance between the brake booster and engine - it's a tight fit for the FJ62 cable.

I plan to use a adapter plate so I can use a lokar pedal and cable. Here is a shot of such a plate from BTB products.

After Roundup - it's back to Dallas for some more work. PS and A/C are still on the list. ;)

I had no problem with the FJ62 cable. Mark, my cable routes much more forward than your pic shows.

Yeah - my cable route is crap....It's what the PO did and it's a major hack job..Did you see where the parking brake hits the gas pedal. I had to disconnect the parking break the first week I had the truck just to get the gas pedal connected. Iam embarrassed just to post the pictures.

A custom shinny chrome pedal and cable is what I need. :grinpimp:

Oh and Pappy - AC is going to rock!!! :princess::flipoff2:

So, is the mythical 3fe 40 gonna make round up? I cant wait to see how it came out in real life.
Got the blueprint shirt..good stuff!

Iam about 99% sure we are going to make it. Randy Fired up the truck last night, all that needs to be done now is put back on the front sheet metal and we are ready to roll. I've taken off work on Monday so I can go get the truck in Dallas, so Iam hoping it's ready.

Randy's been so swapped helping several guy get ready for roundup - he has been slacking on posting up some updated pictures. :crybaby:

I guess I need to reinstall my parking brake to see if I have any issues. I seem to recall the top of my pedal where the cable attaches is further to the left away from the parking brake.

Pappy - can you post up a picture? I would love to see what other people are doing with the gas pedal. What type of pedal did you use?

I used the FJ62 pedal. 1969 FJ40s used an accelerator cable, not the linkage, so I suspect I have it easier. I used the existing hole through the firewall, and modified where the pedal attaches for the FJ62 pedal. I probably will need to bend the pedal a bit to get full throw and keep it off the floor.

Update

Sorry guys I felt like death warmed over but I did get to put some metal on today and see Lee's awesome looking 62. I still say it is the TPS!!! It did it while it was here. But I was wondering about the smog system may be restricting or failing to vent. But that is another story. Here are the freshly painted parts and the frame work so far. Still need to get the front on and the hood then I can drive it and work out the bugs. THIS TRUCK WILL BE AT THE ROCKS!! :D

DAMN!! It's looking like a truck again!! :bounce::bounce::bounce:

How are you feeling?? Calling in sick on Monday...;)

Lee's coming buy to drop off that tire, and have a  call me later - Iam in the garage working on the FZJ80 getting it ready for round up. Iam trying out the new beer popper I installed.

I seem to have it better I guess. I used a dremel to widen the holes of the FJ80 accelerator cable mounting plate and used a file to make the metal end fit in my pedal.... end result is that it looks the same inside.

The cable is insanely long so I might have to do someting about it, but I can route it anywhere I like. The box I'm holding is the cruise control actuator. The accelerator cable comes into it and another cable goes to the throttle.

Hey Mark, the paint looked pretty damn awesome. Saw it myself........and good meeting you Lee!

I guess I'll just wander south solo on Thurs and give somebody a call so I know where to pitch my camp.

Maybe I can wheel my Blue down there........muahahahahhahahahaaaa!

If the price is right I'll sell anything......I sure don't have room for the 2 cars I have, much less the 2 cruisers.

Sell the two cars - keep the two cruisers, problem solved. ;)

I would keep the FJ40, sell the FJ62. Post of a picture of Blue.

Wish I had one, wait.......this has the wrong wheels on it. Now originals are back on. We chopped off the exhaust pretzel too.
There's a full OME lift suspension under there!
I bet you could drive this down there and back easy. Tires are history. The engine actually purrs. Tranny is smooth.
Tie/relay rods need checking out, I feel a pop in the steering. Somethin's loose that's all.
Rear left swaybar bracket popped loose intact and spring pack pin on same side sheared off so axle slid forward about .25'.
Both are easy fixes.
Gonna have to cut the side off Jeff's silver 60 and slap it on and acquire some paint.
Simultaneously looking for a tailgate .......

Randy would like everyone to know that my electric antenna WORKS.

I know that truck - I remember when he was rear ended last year. Did you contact Jeff B from the Austin LSLC chapter. He has a Very nice FJ60 parts truck. Also check your e-mail - I sent you info on a tail gate.

Yes thanks on both heads ups! I'll be there Thurs-Fri-Sat, etc. and afterward in Austin at some point to slice an dice on Jeff's 60.

Randy - I added some bling to the FZJ80 today.. :D:D
Can't wait to have the 3FE40 back so I can bling it up as well.
