I've been reading up on de-smog because I am contemplating removing the egr. In post #13 of this thread: '83 FJ60- Dizzy Recurve- Can anyone demystify this process?
it shows a few inexpensive items needed. Be careful to orient your dizzy and mark the housing and note where the rotor is pointing before removing. Alternately Jim C is apparently the Guru and you could get a spare dizzy and send it to him to recurve.

Also between this thread: The Definitive 79-80 Desmog Guide and the 2f emissions FSM. I am starting to figure things out. Even though the thread is for an older 2f (40 or 55) it is still very informative and goes system by system to tell you what you need and don't need and has good images of the different valves and connections much unlike the FSM

The schematic drawings in the above desmog guide are a bit small for me to read but for that I use the 2f emissions FSM. But he has pictured images of ports and valves that I find useful. Also obviously skip thru the carb ports and Choke opener as you prob dont have that.

That’s what I’m thinking about doing. Buying a spare, having it curved then installing later.

Theres a guy in MN who recurves that I recently chose to go with for a spare I had... I can't try it yet because my engine is out but he was very reasonably priced and quick and easy to communicate with, @distributorguy, his name is Jeff.

Maybe he will respond, and I’ll give him a try.

I just ordered the VCV's from CityRacer. I'll stop by Napa and get some t's and 6mm hose. I have the Toyota 3mm hose already.
I noticed in an earlier post you said you removed the BVSVs ...but the violet (upper) BVSV is part of the EVAP circuit and if you're ordering the VCV for the evap you may want one.
Also the hose on your firewall behind the carb that you didn't know where it goes...it does go to the carb bowl (float chamber in image) of which you don't have a port.

My vsv just showed up, so we are going to try without them first.

I think if you eliminate the upper BVSV and replace it with straight vacuum then the charcoal canister just starts working when the truck is started vs after it warms up

In comets picture, of the passengers side vcv, what is the gas filter he's talking about? That's my last connections.

you have the Z port of your evap VCV going to the large hose on the firewall that was supposed to go to the float chamber of the carb.
There is another metal line on the firewall that comes out under the carb blower close to the driver's fender and is supposed to go to port Z ...so is that line blocked? open?

I’ll check in 10 minutes.

Plugged it in to that port you suggested. 😬
It jumps a lot. When I played with the tuning some the RPM’s still don’t act like the lean drop video I don’t think.
I need to screw it all the way back in and try again tomorrow when I can see though. The smoke was about to choke me to death.
