I learned a long time ago, use Toyota parts and I don't consider the price because Its going to cost me more If I use something else. Be careful this doesan't bite you again. I would achieve factory clearance on those studs, and not compromise the oil pan. I would hate to see harm come to this project and all your hard work. Good Luck.!

Oil pan is fixed. I took it to a certified aircraft welder that does repairs on aluminum engine casings on high dollar piston aircraft engines. He repaired it in 20 minutes. He recommended I leak test it with solvent to see if it wicks through, so it's sitting right now with solvent in it and is sealed all up.

Back to my regularly scheduled rebuild. :)

So I had the oil pan repaired, and it looks OK, but I don't want it cracking later with a few thousand heat cycles and having to deal with it. I decided to replace it. This led to a conversation with my machinist and he said I can't use the main bearing cap studs without checking and/or redoing the line bore. Evidently the studs push down pretty much straight, while the bolts put a lot of torque load on them and can twist it or something. Might be OK, might not. If I wanted to use studs he said the line bore should have been done with them. So taking no chances I ordered $200 worth of new main bearing cap bolts from Toyota. Now I have an extra set of studs.

In the meantime, decided to paint the replacement oil pan because SagePearl

The PHH isn't so pesky with the engine out of the vehicle!

The final assembly is where dis-assembly pictures really prove their worth. I had 5 mystery brackets, and at least one mystery wire. Pictures solved them all.

Now it was time for a beer and sit down, admiring my work.

Should be stuffing it in next weekend.

Did you have the headers and the misc parts ceramic coated or just sprayed?
