As Willie Nelson would say, can't wait to get on the road again!
have been testing the ATF cooler. Works as expected so far. 180-190 deg f on the output side and 130-150 or so on the input side. I need to figure out a gauge setup because right now I’m just using my little hand-held guy when I stop to check it. Not the best but it does let me check ball park wise.
This was a big service push
rear axle assembly has now been gone thru in excruciating detail.
3rd member seems to be ok, getting warm after a drive but not too hot. good sign, will have to see what the magnet tells me here in a couple hundred miles. all new studs, washers and nuts.
Both drive shafts were removed and I pumped an entire tube of grease thru them until I got all the old gunk out of the joints. slip joints were cleaned and emptied and refilled with new grease as well. All the driveshaft hardware was replaced with OEM.
Transfer case output on the rear side seems good now, new locking nut and proper torque spec applied. Shows about 8-10 lbs on the resistance. Glad I did not have to get new shims. But the output bearing is now really noisy and I’m guessing because it was out of spec it now needs to be replaced.
All new steering linkage. new tie rod + end, new relay with new ends and steering damper as well. All just Toyota stuff nothing exotic.
I setup the length-based repair manual.
Tie Rod should be approximately 1,207 mm (47.51 in)
Relay Rod should be Approximately 960.5 mm (37.81 in)
It seems ok but it does not turn back to center quite as aggressively as I would like, so I maybe should add a tiny bit of tow in. But I think I’m going to get it put on the rack and see what it shows. I can do alignments ok on the garage floor but it’s hard finding a perfect flat level surface.
Bumper position with new brackets is good, I like it. I do miss the front porch but I like this look as well. It’s a bit higher and tighter to the body. Good for now.
edit: also should mention, removed headlight emergency wash setup, it’s cool and all but the washer ends were not working so great. I will have to figure out something to fill the holes.
Also new belts, with new alternator tension bracket, block and bolt. New idler pulley/bracket/bolt as well. Mine were still functional but this makes doing belts simple and easy.
Oh also…. Should mention I’m running the manual radiator and shroud. This is a top notch radiator IMO. Everything mounted perfectly and it all lines up just like it’s made for it. huge thanks to @
dcruiser666 for that post

Wanted to post an update here. The swap is nearly complete, just have to add fluids and bleed everything. Regarding the motor mount welding, I actually did this with the motor in and the transmission bolted up. I realized that since hdj73 also switched the transmission I wouldn't have any wiggle...
